Scorch was easy to spot
but difficult to approach.
Her beautiful spotted flesh
was hiding under the shadows
of a room corner.
She was talking to nothing
again,
but that didn’t deter me
from her.
“Hello.” Was the first thing I said
to her.
Not the best conversation starter,
but, then again,
I wasn’t in the best situation,
either.
Scorch’s lips stopped moving,
stopped forming the hushed,
whispered words that were
inaudible to me.
Her eyes flickered up to mine,
but the moment didn’t last long.
They slowly lowered
to a point far off
in the distance,
and she whispered the words,
“what a pretty face.
I can’t wait to burn it.”
all of a sudden,
I didn’t feel like talking
to Scorch
anymore.
