They came back for me.

They came back for me.

Well, I couldn’t exactly call it a ‘they’

but I could call it a ‘she’.

Judith was the only one who cared,

but that was enough.

Someone cared about me.

“I will stay with you.”

She said,

and, I swear,

I’d never heard sweeter words

in my entire life.

“If…”

Of course.

There was always that one crucial “if”

that followed them wherever they went.

Usually it resulted in murder or assault.

That would probably be the case

this time.

“…you spy on the staff.”

I asked Judith why.

“They’re probably evil, Bev.

I’m just saying, why would one threaten your life

and why would they leave those scars

on your knees?”

My eyes wavered

to the patches of frostbite

on my skin.

“They are most definitely up to no good.

We need to decide which ones to off first

and we need to figure out

who’s out to get you the most.”

I said nothing.

I just nodded.

Judith was always right.
