I look at the bushes she had run through, still not reacting. Who was this girl, Estrella, who seemed like she knew more than she had said? Why did I feel like I knew her better than I knew my own family? Why did I feel like I had known her all my life when she was a stranger to me?
I know that I won't be able to sleep for a while, although it's not like that wasn't already a problem. I feel that she would haunt my waking mind like the silver wolf haunts my dreams. I shake my head quickly, though I know it's impossible to force thoughts out of your head.
I can't let that happen... The wolf already lives in my mind, I can't have a person in there too. However, I can't shake the feeling that I will meet her again, though I might not know it. I take a deep breath, then begin to run. I run until I reach my home, a small two-story house hidden away in the woods just outside of Lodestar, our small town.
I take the stairs two at a time, then fall onto my bed face first. I close my eyes, curling my hands into fists, waiting for sleep to pull me into its dark embrace.
Just before I fade from consciousness, I see two things, right next to each other. In my field of closed-eye vision, two faces hover. One is silver and slender, that of a wolf. The other is pale and round, surrounded by dark blonde hair. They only share two things in common. I saw both that night, and they both have piercing purple eyes.
