"Star?" I say, louder this time. The purple light returns, but only for a second, before Star is standing where the wolf had been only moments before. She nods, saying, "I've seen you before."
"And I've seen you before. So what?" I reply, confused. She sighs, adding, "Before last night, I mean. But not in person." I tilt my head, wondering how.
"I'm not sure why, but I've seen you before. Many, many times."
"I've never left these woods, though." I say, growing more confused by the second.
"And I've never entered them until today." I look at her, surprised.
"Then how did you know me?"
She sighs, as though she would need to tell me something she is unwilling to share to answer my question. "I've known you for as long as I can remember."
"Wait, what?" I start to say. "How did you-?"
"Shut up and let me finish!" She says, eyes flaring. She takes a deep breath before continuing.
