Chapter 44

Matthew's P.O.V.

I smiled feeling Derek's lips press against my forehead. I was so happy he wasn't mad because I really didn't want to lose him.

"Babe." He said rubbing little circles on my back. "What do you feel like doing?"

I shrugged burying my face into his neck. "I wanna cuddle." He chuckled and kissed my lips softly. "We've been doing that for the past two hours....how about we go out somewhere?"

"Like where?"

He thought for a moment and then smiled, "how about Dave and Busters?" I smiled but it soon faded and I shook my head. "Derek that's too expensive and I didn't bring any money. How about we do something cheap like a picnic?" He shook his head. "Baby you're so sweet but money isn't a problem. I can take care of everything." I sighed, "Derek no.."

He sat up and gently placed me beside him on the couch. "Baby let me tell you a little bit about me. I've been on my own since I was thirteen. So that's five years ago. I came from Italy and I moved to the United States. I just got my citizenship a couple of months ago actually but anyway I bought this house when I was sixteen on my own. I paid the real estate agent in cash. Mind you I was sixteen and this house cost one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. I've been living here ever since. I know you're wondering how I make all this money and I don't want to go into details but let's just say I'm self employed. On average I make about twenty grand.....per hour and that's on a slow day. So money isn't a problem love. Dave and Busters. Yeah?"

I was speechless. What self employed job makes twenty grand an hour??

"Derek I-I just don't want you to waste your money on me that's all."

He rolled his eyes and chuckled. "It's not a waste of money if it's for someone you love. Let's gooo."

He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. "Derek!!" I giggled. "Put me down!!" He laughed harder and swatted my bum. "Nope. Not until we get to the car." Without warning he ran to the car with me screaming and laughing like a crazy person.

*At Dave and Busters*

We finally arrived and I was honestly really excited. I've only been to Dave and Busters once and that was a couple years ago for Austin's birthday party so I don't really remember much.

We walked inside and my jaw dropped. The building was huge and there were game everywhere!!! I grabbed onto Derek'a hand a little overwhelmed by the amount of people. He smiled down at me and kissed my forehead. "It's alright baby don't be scared." We approached the register and the woman smiled.

"Hi welcome to Dave and Busters. Would you like playing cards?"

Derek nodded, "yes. Two please."

I looked behind me and admired all the games. Wow...a giant arcade. My eyes caught red and blue flashing lights. It read 'RACE CAR MANIA' in bold letters. I didn't even realize I was walking off until I felt a hand yank me back. It was Derek. "Wait love." He said "I don't want you getting lost or us getting separated."

I pouted, "b-but I wanna play the race car game." He shook his head "how are you gonna play it without the card?" He grabbed the two cards from the woman's hand thanking her and then turned to me. "What race car game are you talking about?" I immediately pointed to the large sign with the flashy lights. "That one. Please can we play that one??" He chuckled and nodded. "Let's go."

We made it back to the car and I was tired. I checked the time and it was only 3 p.m. Dave and Busters was so fun and the food was amazing. I hope we can come back again soon. I won prizes and candy it was just great.

Derek pulled out of the parking lot and turned the corner stopping at a red light. I looked out the window as my mind started to wander. I wonder if daddy is still mad at me...probably.

"Derek?" I said as my curiosity level increased.

"Yeah love?"

"W-Where are your parents? Do you even get to see them?"

He glanced over at me and then back at the road as the light turned green. "Yeah I see them. Not often but I see them every once in awhile. They live in Italy but sometimes they'll come up to see me." I nodded. "When was the last time you saw them?" He was silent for a moment. "Um.....last year."

The rest of the car ride was silent but as we turned on to Derek's block I spoke. "Um Derek c-can I stay over tonight. I-I'm scared to go back home." He grabbed my hand keeping his left hand on the wheel and kissed my knuckles. "Of course you can. You can stay as long as you like."

We finally pulled into his driveway and I smiled. His house is so nice. I followed behind him and took my shoes off as we entered. Without warning Derek pinned me against the wall and connected our lips. I froze. My heartbeat sped up as Austin popped into my mind. I quickly shut my eyes and pushed Derek away. "I-I can't.... I-" I sighed rubbing my hand over my face. "I'm sorry..." Derek shook his head and grabbed my waist. "It's ok baby just relax. Everything is fine. Focus on me ok? Don't think about anything else." With that he reconnected our lips.

Derek's P.O.V.

I noticed that Matt was nervous whenever I tried to kiss him. Something was on his mind...probably Austin.

I sighed. "We don't have to do this love. How about we watch a movie?" Matt looked up at me and his eyes started to water. "Are you mad at me?" I quickly shook my head. "No baby. Of course not. I just don't want you to be uncomfortable so we can try again some other time ok?" He nodded.

I guided him back to the couch and pulled him onto my lap. His tiny body curled into my chest and he sighed. "D-Derek....."

"Hmm?"

He shook his head and blushed. Almost as if he changed his mind about what he was going to say. "Never mind."
