Chapter 45

THE NEXT DAY

Derek's P.O.V.

I groaned hearing my alarm. I quickly grabbed my phone and shut it off sighing happily at the silence. I heard a small whimper. I looked down and Matt was cuddled close to me side like a koala bear. He's so cute. I tried to loosen his hold and wiggle out but he wouldn't budge. "Matt baby.." I whispered as I shook him gently. He groaned burying his face into my neck. I chuckled, "come on love we have to go to school." He shook his head and sighed "nooo can we skip today pleaseeeee??" I slowly sat up pulling him with me. "Baby we skipped all day yesterday and plus it's Friday so it's just today and then we have the whole weekend." He sighed again as I handed him his glasses. "I don't wanna wear those."

"Matt you have to wear them if you want to see." He rolled his eyes putting them on his face. "I need contacts" he grumbled. I kissed his forehead. Someone is not a morning person.

I gently pushed him over and got out of bed. "Come on babes we gotta hit the shower and then I'll make you breakfast. Sound good?" He shook his head laying back down. "Five minutes." I chuckled "Baby come on we can't be late for school. Want me to help you in the shower?" His body visually tensed and he sat up readjusting his glasses. "Um....I- I'm ok.."
I furrowed my eyebrows. What is going on with him? Last night he didn't want to kiss me and now he doesn't wanna shower with me. What the hell?? I shook my head and spoke softly, "Matt... why don't you want me to touch you or hold you or shower with you. Do you think I would hurt you?" He frowned looking down at his hands.

"N-No it's not that...I-" he stopped and sighed.

I walked over to him and sat beside him. "What's wrong Matt?" He was silent for a minute then he shook his head. "A-Austin.... he did that stuff to me in the shower a-and I-I don't know...I'm sorry." I sighed pulling him into my lap. "Babe" I said kissing his temple. "Don't be sorry about that. It wasn't your fault. I'll talk to Austin when we get to school. I'll make sure he leaves you alone. Alright?" He nodded cuddling into my chest.

I brushed his hair from his eyes. "Matt if you're really that uncomfortable with us showering together then you can go first and I'll make breakfast in the mean time. Ok?" He nodded. "Derek I don't have any clothes."

I smiled "that's ok you can borrow something of mine. It's only for one day." He nodded. "Thank you."

Matthew's P.O.V.

I hopped out of the shower and sighed. I kinda felt bad for not letting Derek shower with me. It probably would've been nice.

I grabbed the towel off the hook and wrapped it around my waist. Grabbing my glasses I went into Derek's room. I smiled seeing clothes already laid out on the bed. Derek is so nice. I don't understand why he wants to be with me. He bullied me for so long and now....this?

I shook my head trying to get all the negative thoughts out. He loves me.

I put on the sweats and the t-shirt and chuckled. It's huge!! I rolled up the waist band checking in the mirror to make sure it looked more 'normal'. I put on my glasses and grabbed my phone off the night stand. I sighed seeing twenty four missed calls from daddy twelve missed calls from Austin and two missed calls from Ava.

Running my fingers through my hair I checked my messages.

From Austin:
Matty I know you freaked out this morning but you really need to come home because Dad is pissed at you.

From daddy:
MATTHEW GET YOUR ASS HOME NOW!!

From daddy:
GET HOME NOW!! I KNOW YOU'RE WITH THAT BOY!!

I shook my head shoving the phone into my pocket. I really didn't want to deal with any of this.

I made my way downstairs and the smell of bacon immediately filled my nose. The table was filled with pancakes and bacon and even a huge fruit salad. "Wow..." I whispered. I wasn't quiet enough because Derek heard me and turned around. He chuckled, "hi baby. I didn't know exactly what you wanted to I just made a little bit of everything and you take really long showers so I had time." I felt I cheeks heat up "I didn't even take that long." He smiled coming around the table with my plate. "Ok baby whatever you say." He pulled out the chair and set the plate down kissing my forehead. "It's ok if you don't eat everything. Just eat what you can. I'm gonna shower." In all honesty I didn't even want him to leave. I wanted us to eat together but I didn't say anything.

Derek's P.O.V.

We pulled into the parking lot of the school and I heard Matt sigh beside me. I looked over at him and his cheeks were crimson.

"What's wrong baby?"

I could tell he was purposely avoiding eye contact with me. I grabbed his hand and kissed his knuckles. "Talk to me love." He looked up at me then back down at our hands. "I'm scared..." I frowned. "Of what?" He sighed. "People are gonna stare at us and talk about us. I mean... what's the difference between us and any other couple in school?" I shook my head. "Baby listen to me. There is no difference ok? People are just cruel because we are males. Not everyone supports same sex couples but don't worry about them. You have me and I have you so that's honestly all that matters." That seemed to calm him down a lot more. I kissed his forehead and smiled. "Come on love let's get inside."

We walked into the school building hand and hand and like Matt said people were staring and talking. I pulled Matt closer to my side as we made our way over to his locker. I brushed his curly bangs back with my fingers and pecked his lips. "See you after school yeah?" He smiled and nodded. "Bye Derek." I chuckled and walked away with only one thing on my mind. Austin.
