*Al’s point of view

Yesterday was the most amazing experience of my life. With Lance, it was more that special yet now that I thought about it, I may have said something careless.

Don’t you dare disappear? Seriously, why did I even speak?! Ugh. That was a slip of the tongue. Anyways, it feels good telling my side of the story to my best friends. It felt like a nail just lifted from my chest.

Only a week more before the big day (thesis) and we all know what that means. The secret is out! Hahahaha. We’ll be doing the paper works at Maxx’s crib so I came with some cupcakes Mom made.

The front gate was open so I went right in and knocked on the door. “Hey Maxx, it’s me. I have those specialties you requested.”

(A vase broke inside). Clatter. “That’s it! We are through Maxx Cornelius! Through!” Natalie barged out of the door and stared at me, furious. Scary.

“Uhh, did something happened?” My stupidest question. Ever.

“Ask your good for nothing friend! Ughh!”

And she walks out. Awkard. I went inside and saw Maxx troubling at the sofa. “Really? I thought it was working out smoothly~?”

“Can you not, Al? Please?” he got more upset.

“I’m sorry. I was trying to come up with a conversation.” I took a cupcake out of the box. “Here. You need it more that I do.”

Sigh, we unison. “How’d you do it, Al?”

                                “Do what?” I got trivial.

“How is it that you could stand being close to me after all the shit I’ve done?”

“Well, I hurt you first so –“ Maxx stifled. “You hurt me first? Don’t be that stupid.”

“Excuse me.” I felt insulted. “I get that you feel like shit right now but don’t unleash my inner Al, punk.”

“S-Sorry. For a minute, you sounded like Lance. You guys been hanging out?”

“Ye—erm. Well…Ugh. What happened with you and Natalie this time?” I tried to shift the question. “The truth is, she doesn’t get me. She keeps secrets and look at other guys. When we kiss, it’s blank.

“Well, you can’t force her to be your idea of perfect.”

                                “Wha—I’m no ---“

“Let me finish.” I cleared my throat. “Maxx, you’re my best friend. My only GUY best friend so I really have to say this now. You are a person who won’t accept the opinion of others. You want to be right. And you think you are.

When we met, I liked you for your honesty and enthusiasm in science geek stuff. You were so sure of what you were saying. I learned to be confident because of you. But as the rollercoaster starts to go on its twists and turns, you changed. You won’t let us tell you off. When you got into a fight with Mhia, I chose my words judt to make you listen. So my question is, do you like her? Or do you love her?”
