*Maxx’s point of view
Maxx, its Lance Fletcher. I won’t be in the meeting later.
Hey Maxx, mom wants you to join us for dinner. She’ll be cooking your favorite if it still is that is… So come, Brainiac >:P
Ali texted me. I suddenly remembered how she talked to me before. It was just like this, childish but sweet. Sigh. I smiled.
It’s Sunday morning and i just finished attending the Holy Eucharist. Since my parents were working overtime today, I went alone. I’ve missed some masses though i try and get a candle lit.
“Isn’t that Maxx?” I heard somebody familiar mentioning my name. “Ah, Yeah! Hey Maxx!” it was Al calling. I came closer with a big smile on my face. “Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Scarlet.” I grabbed their hand, one at a time, and placed it to my forehead for respect. “Al and my little bro!”
“Kuya Maxx! You’re home!” Nathan gave him a hug.
Nathan and I are really close, closer than I were to Ali really. We’re more like pure blooded brothers.
“Are you about to attend the mass? You could join us.”
“I’m sorry, sir. I just finished. I’m on my way to school for a general meeting.” I replied.
“Too bad. But you will join us for dinner, am I right?” (Mrs. Scarlet)
“I could never say no to that offer, ma’am. I’ll see you then.” I bowed. “C’ya Al!”
I really feel troubled in this arrangement. I mean, there is a ton of things I don’t know about Ali anymore that her parents might ask. How am I supposed to say that we haven’t talk for almost two years? Sigh. I decided to keep it simple and plain with her today; not too much contact.
*Al’s point of view
“He’s such a nice boy.” Mom and Dad started walking. “Yea, right. Most of the time.” I murmured. “Achi Al, is it really okay for him to have dinner with us even though he hurt you bad” Nathan tugged.
“If it’ll make papa happy, then its fine. We’re still friends after all.”
When mass was over, we had our weekly clean-up drive and wash day 2. Without knowing, it was already evening. Dad cooked and the three of us arranged the table.
Ding-dong. The doorbell rang. It was Maxx with some lasagna. Thereof, this awkward meal starts.
“So Maxx, what course are you taking up?” Dad asked.
“Ah, I’m taking up Petroleum Engineering, sir.”
“I thought you wanted to teach. Isn’t that why Al took up Education?”(Mom)
I coughed. “No, that’s not the reason, mom.”
“Wait. You took up Education? How do you have Building subject?”
