The birds were singing their morning song as this semester comes to an end. I took off early to meet up with Lance at the bridge again. It became a habit of mine.

“Lance~.” I called. “Are you here?”

I suddenly heard rustling sounds from behind but no one was there. I felt as if my body tingled from head to toe. I looked back in front. “Ahhhh!” I shrieked. “Lance! You know I hate that kind of stuff! I felt my skin tensing this time *shiver* I almost died. Sigh. So, what’s up?”

                “Why didn’t you die?”

“Huh? You do it every time at school. You’d get used to it too if you were in my place. Anyways, why did you lie about going somewhere far to Maxx? He was really worried y’know.”

“What do you care?” he answered rudely.

“Hey~! What’s with the attitude? It’s not six y----. “Lance pushed me against the base of the bridge; my body stiff as can be.  I suddenly felt myself turn pallid. “L-lan---“

“Don’t ever come near me again.” He pressed his face against my forehead, gawking at me with murderous looking eyes. Then he looked at me for the last time and turned around. Still confuse and scared, I still tried to move my feet and catch up with him. “Lance, wait!” I reached for his hand but he abruptly slaps this away. It made me feel helpless than hurt.

“Stay away from me.” He said with disgust and anguish. I can’t believe it. I froze up; not my feet or my mouth could make a move. My chest hurts so bad it feels like it’s being pulled out and stabbed upon by someone who is slowly disappearing but the pain just won’t stop with it.

                Riiiiiing. Riiiiiing. “. . .”

Riiiing. Riiiiing. Sigh. “Hello?” my voice cracked.

“Al? are you okay? You sounded like you were crying just now.”(Liza)

“No, it’s nothing. I’m just tired. That’s all.”

“Well, where are you? We’re almost by your house. We’re going to school together again!”

“Yeah! Hurry up, slow poke! Hihi” (Tori)

                                                                “We miss you Al!” (Mhia)

“I’ll be down in a minute. Listen. . . I have something to tell you.”

When they saw me with swollen eyes and a reddish nose, they quickly comforted me as I cry myself to death, dumbfounded. I told them everything that had happened after they forced me into having a warm and relaxing(?) bath. Even they couldn’t understand what Lance wanted. They told me to just forget about him and concentrate on what has been my goal since day one, Studies.

Everything was happening so fast that I almost lost track of my ulterior motive which is to get good and better grades for me and my family. They were right. Lance was just an illusion, a distraction of some kind to make me preoccupied. Now I know of only three important human factors in my life: God, my family and my dearest friends.
