My not so Perfect Love

AFTER

                It has been five years after that incident. I’m currently on my way back from Singapore for work.

                “Al! Hey!” Maxx waved his hand briskly and quickly gave me a big ol’ hug.

                                “Maxx! God, I missed you. Thanks for helping out. I really planned on surprising the folks.”

                “Well, you sure did surprise us for leaving to study in the States. What gotten into you that time?” he poked my forehead.

                                “I couldn’t help it! Dad wanted me to accept a scholarship he set on a short notice. Besides, I’m back!”

                Before going home, Maxx and I decided to walk memory lane. We went to the park and started reminiscing and laughing about how old we were and nostalgic it was.

                Frey and Tori are now working at a huge company as accountants. Liza decided to get serious in studying Nursing and now she’s studying to get her Doctor’s specialization on Dermatology. Elaina on the other hand auditioned for a singing contest two years ago and got her first debut with her new song “Aurora”. Mhia is doing well as an architect. She and Maxx will be partners as soon as they graduate for their last year. And Moni got recruited by a well-known photographer from Paris and well, she’s living the dream with her husband-to-be today! And yes, I’ll be one of the bride’s maid. P.S.: Only Maxx and Moni knew I was coming. Hohoho

                “Ahahaha! So you poured coffee on your boss in front of everybody? Priceless!” (Maxx)

                                “Yeah,yeah, it was super scary. My boss’s face was like ‘asdfghjkl I should fire you right now’. But it was an accident, so he overlooked that one.”

                “Pft.” He stifled and messed my hair. “Oh, uhh, sorry. Are we too old for that?”

                                “Nah, it’s kinda nice. Actually I missed this.”

                “Yeah.”

                After all those years away from home, I couldn’t help think how everybody was doing. I couldn’t even afford internet service so we usually just call each other. But still, physical contact is still so different. You could really be in tears. And now that I’m back, I’ll set some things right.

                I kissed Maxx’s cheek. “Maxx, I really did liked you.”

                                “What?” he got puzzled.

                “Pft, don’t be such an innocent. I just mean just that. You misunderstood what I said about not hooking up so when I knew you find out about Chris you burst out. You never even told me what you felt. That’s all. We have to let it out some time.”

                                “Wow. That answered my seven yearlong unrequited love.”

                “Sorry, I never had the guts to say it.”*Beep*

                                “I know, I’m an idiot myself. Well, at least we’re not like those other fools.”

                “HA! Got it on tape! Admitting your stupid is PRICELESS~! Hahahaha”

                                “Hey! Come here you!”
