"Ready, set. Three, two, one."
Ferox inhaled deeply and placed faith in her favorite launch. As risky and perilous as it was to use against Free's Beyblade, Haraka Boost it was. Ferox's scarf swayed theatrically as she yanked on her winder. She gritted her teeth, knowing that this was her best option.
"Let it, rip!"
Ferox and Free released their Beyblades, and Free had the most impeccable technique Ferox had ever seen. The indescribable smoothness and power of Drain Fafnir dazzled her. Yes, being Free's opponent was way better than watching him in-person or on television.
Free had an outstanding stadium presence, much more than Lui, Valt, or Shu, and Ferox wondered if she brought similar dynamism, strength, and brawn to the battle. She had to believe it was true as her Beyblade moved in a perfect trajectory, and Ferox's mind was undoubtedly submerged in the Bey spirit world.
Tala Zmaj was ready to battle, and the smoky black, nightmarish, and beautiful wolf-dragon with scarlet eyes shimmered into existence. She roared ferociously, swinging her enormous tail studded with gems and spikes; she would fight fire with fire.
Tala Zmaj was a glamorous creature, so bewitching in strength and loveliness that she even caught the eye of Lost Luinor, the white, icy dragon, but she had shunned him. According to Zmaj, no Bey spirit deserved or could handle the sheer might of her greatness.
I am Tala Zmaj, the most powerful Beyblade! I dare you to take me on, Drain Fafnir! I'm an unparalleled warrior! I ripped apart Lost Luinor, that deceitful excuse of a dragon, that betrayer of friends! Zmaj announced without hesitation to her competitor.
Observing Drain Fafnir, she found him to be an enormous dragon with a hefty tail, heavy limbs, and gigantic horns; he also had golden, blue, and green scales. He looked like a powerful opponent, which delighted Zmaj. The dark wolf-dragon loved an exemplary challenge.
As a quick and lean beast, Zmaj decided that she would rely on speed and agility to evade the sluggish and stocky Fafnir. In turn, Fafnir flapped his wings slowly and was not in a hurry. His emerald green eyes watched her serenely.
Fafnir did not respond but rather smiled as much as a dragon could. It was a demure gesture compared to the flashy, vibrant Zmaj, and he gradually inched around Zmaj and quietly examined the other draconic Beyblade spirit.
Zmaj was genuinely perplexed as Fafnir shifted his large head to avoid her blood-red eyes. Most Bey spirits were talkative and would clash with her ego immediately, yet not this one. Fafnir was different, and it was maddeningly attractive.
Well, this is awkward, Zmaj said with a huff. We're about to battle, so say something!
Fafnir averted his gaze, almost as if he were too timid to interact with her.
The battle was unlike any fight that Ferox had ever had. Electricity and fire sparked in the air, and Ferox could hardly tear her eyes away from her competitor Free de la Hoya, who was not taking his eyes off her in turn. Their talent had completely bewitched one another.
Oh, Ferox loathed Free's smug smile. Arrogance made her heart lurch with rage, and Ferox recollected the cruel words Free had spoken. Simultaneously, everything disappeared around the two bladers until a void enveloped them, their Bey spirits engaging in a marvelous battle.
It was just Ferox and Free now. They shared the same understanding that nothing else mattered except the battle. The intense intimacy was beyond anything Ferox had ever experienced, and she was beginning to feel her opponent's spirit, his heart, and his mind. Perennial sadness, never-ending weariness, eternal loneliness, and undying boredom.
