sage

"get your ass down here, now! you have to go- i will drag you down here!" marlee yelled towards sage's room, raising her voice. for being as busy as sage was, she was almost always on time, but the way she got ready would make anyone so late they wouldn't show.  sage was amazing at multitasking- she could put on her makeup while drying her hair and changing clothes, which was helpful with her crazy schedule.

when marlee had woken sage up two hours before and told her she had set her up for lunch with calum that day, she was shocked. as she read the texts marlee had sent on her phone, she was slightly impressed with how similar they were to something she would've written.

heading out the door in a casual sundress, a headband, and five inch wedge heels, (sage always wore heels- she hated when she had to look up at everyone else) she felt ready for lunch with calum. it wasnt anything special- he had said to sage, who was actually marlee, that he had just wanted to get to know her better.

when she arrived at the restaurant, a waitress spotted her and immediately rushed her to a room in the back before sage could even get a word out. when she finally let sage walk on her own, she saw calum sitting with her back to her at a small table for two, on a patio overlooking the ocean. he turned around casually when he heard her come in, and got up to pull her chair out and push it back into place after she sat down.

CALUM

calum had been on dates everywhere in the world, with any girl he wanted, any time, any where. so when he finally decided to text sage and ask her to meet up for lunch, why was he so nervous?  it wasn't even a date, he thought, as he checked his hair for the tenth time.

he'd arrived twenty minutes early to the restaurant, as he wasn't sure if sage was an early bird, but as soon as he sat down, he started worrying that she was going to be late and that she wouldn't think it was cool of him to have arrived to early. as per his management's rules, he left the apartment in a stylist-approved outfit, but hadn't alerted management he was going out- they said that it was important for them to know where calum was for safety purposes, but calum had figured out long ago that the real reason was to alert the paparazzi ahead of time so they could be outside of wherever calum was going before he got there. normally, he let them know whenever it could be a good publicity moment, as they called it, which would usually result in his management being more lenient of how calum acted during the rest of the week. while calum couldn't stand his management, his image, or the publicity, he'd figured out that if he cooperated with some of their stupid demands, it was better for everyone.

staring at sage, calum was in awe. she was wearing a loose dress and a matching head thingy (he never knew what all the girls accessories were, he didn't even know the name of half the things he was styled with) and was sitting there quietly, obviously waiting for calum to start the conversation.

"so what do you do in your free time?" calum asked, as it was the first thing he thought of. he listened to sage tell him how she really didn't have free time, and that her schoolwork and real 'work' kept her too busy. she then asked him about his music, as she had heard the girls talk about him at the club. there weren't too many things calum was passionate about, but his music was surely one of them. he told her about his band, how he plays the bass, and sings, and was put into a good mood when sage replied that she was impressed. within seconds, sage pulled out her phone, downloaded all of their music, and told calum she was excited to listen to it later.

almost two hours later, calum and sage finally finished their lunch, chatting like they had known each other forever. he invited her back to his apartment so they could watch pitch perfect (which they had both said was their favorite movie) and chat more.

sage

"iiiiiiii saw the siiiiiigns, and it opened up my eeeeyyyeeessss," calum and sage scream-sang throughout the movie room. when calum had said that he also loved pitch perfect, sage had thought he was just saying it to agree, and calum had proved her wrong. they spent the next three hours watching the second and third movies, and had a great time doing so. throughout the third movie, they played a game where one person paused the movie and if the other didn't know the line, they took a shot. eventually, they became so intoxicated that they weren't really talking anymore, just mumbling.

after a few minutes, sage received a call from marlee, wondering where she was and when she was coming home, to which sage just giggled at, which caused calum to giggle at, to which marlee replied to "stay safe, be polite, and use protection," causing sage to hang up and giggle with calum some more. sage then looked at the time, and somehow managed to realize that it was eleven pm, and she had been with calum for almost ten hours. as if calum knew what she was thinking, he leaned over and said, "hey, wanna have a sleepover? my bed is sooo comfy," to which sage giggled for the thousandth time and agreed. they helped each other up the best they could as two drunk people, and walked down the long hallway to calums bedroom. sage had only been in there once, but when she stepped in she immediately remembered the bed that felt like heaven and dove into it. seconds later, calum plopped down next to her, said goodnight, and quickly fell asleep, prompting sage to do the same.
