CALUM

when calum woke up the next morning, saying he was disappointed was an understatement. he remembered spending the day with sage, and then having a 'sleepover' in his room, so why wasn't she there when he got up?
much to his surprise not a minute later, he heard the toilet flush and sage stepped out of his bathroom, wearing one of calum's large tees. when the two new friends made eye contact, they gave each other soft smiles.

"so how'd you sleep?" calum asked, unsure of what to say.

"well, thank you" sage replied, as she grabbed her sundress and walked back into the bathroom. she came out a minute later dressed in what she wore yesterday, before explaining to calum that she had to get to her late-morning classes. calum, of course, immediately got up and changed to take sage to class, ignoring her assurances that she could just take an uber.

twenty minutes later, calum pulled up in front of sage's home, in to which she disappeared for a few minutes, before returning to the car with her books and a new outfit. he then drove her over to school, where upon her exiting the car, calum worked up the courage to reach over and kiss her cheek (in a 'friendly way', of course), as he wished her a nice day at uni. as he drove back home to get some much-needed rest, he wondered what sage was thinking about, which was him. sage had been a bit flustered when he leant over to peck her cheek, but it wasn't unwanted and had only given her a better start to her already-boring day.

"i don't know sage, i mean, he seems like a good guy besides the whole "hangs out at a strip club" thing," marlee said to sage as she watched her prep for work. when both the girls had arrived home after uni, sage had told marlee everything from the day before, and after thinking more and more about it, sage just wasn't sure what to do.

"i really like him, mar, but like, what if he doesn't like me that way? what if this is a game for him?" sage ponders.

soon enough, the girls change topics, with calum still fresh in sage's mind. as she heads to the X, she gets herself refocused for her job, as she knows that thinking about him will only distract her.

the ladies at the X all greet her warmly as she heads to her makeup station, and cindi comes over to tell her that she's ordered sage a new outfit, and that it was hanging in the closet. at the X, 'the closet' wasn't just a closet, it was a huge room full of costumes, complete with a lavish break area in the center. all the girls had little areas of the closet for their own outfits, but part of the room was sectioned off for shared accessories and shoes, or specific costumes for special events. sage was excited cindi had purchased an outfit for her, as it was a sign that she was fitting in. she walked into the closet and towards the back corner, only to find a gorgeous light grey satin and lace bra with a matching thong. after putting it on, she headed back out to find matching makeup, and was met with a variety of oohs and ahhs from the other ladies. sage knew that working at a strip club wasn't exactly conventional, but she'd become a better version of herself there, surrounded by kind friends who cared about her.

soon enough, it was sage's turn out on the pole, and she had a long set tonight. she started with versace on the floor and worked her magic, looking out at the crowd to create a sense of allure, but also looking for a specific regular.

an hour later, she finished her set with sweet creature (sage loved the slower songs, they drew attention to her and gave her a less intensive routine) before heading backstage, where she was greeted by jade and angel, who were praising her set. she turned around to look out one more time, and tried to hide her slight disappointment when she still didn't see calum. done for the night, she headed to her makeup station and wiped all of her makeup away before changing back into her yoga pants and tee shirt. as she unlocked her locker to get her purse out, she heard her phone buzz inside. curious as to who was up at one am on a thursday, she pulled out her phone and saw that it was marlee.
