Never Hers

He was a constant reminder
A scar that always hinders
For she was wholly his
But he was never hers.

Spectators were biased
She wasn't even aware they were watched
Until someone came and asked
"How are you?" "We broke up."

The "How?" and "Why?" then followed
But she just smiled and chuckled
Many reasons could be said but she uttered none
She can't tell them she was never the one.

For so long people expected so much
The love they've had should be more than enough
But things happened behind closed doors
And just like that their love was washed ashore.

Whatever she'll do will never change a thing
For she was never part of the game
Because even if she was wholeheartedly his
He, in this universe, will never be hers.
