We arrived at Xander's home and he led me inside. His foster parents weren't home. We sat in his living room. And he told me to tell him who he is.
"He is the man that kidnapped me the other day. Aaron is in debt. He owed the man's dad eighty-thousand dollars. His father recently passed away but that won't stop him from getting payed back. I have to marry him in order for the debt to be cleared. I tried calling him to get him to pay it, but he won't. He's never helped me before and I know he won't now.."
"You're safe here, Yvette. We won't let him hurt you."
I put my head on my brother's shoulder and sighed. I then realized that I was still wearing the dress. I felt horrible. He gave me a lovely gift, and I just ran and took his hospitality with me. I took out my phone and scanned through my contacts. I had Lucifer's number, which meant he had mine. I blocked his number. There was a possibility of him being able to track where I was. I turned airplane mode on to make that less of a chance.
When his foster parents got home, they looked at me with shock. It was obvious they knew who I was. His mom asked what was going on. Before I could respond, Xander jumped in. He explained everything as I sat there, feeling sheepish as ever. To my surprise, they were compassionate and understanding. They knew our dad was in debt and that something would happen eventually. The completely understood. Besides, they knew I was his only sister.
That night, they let me choose between the guest bedroom upstairs or the couch. I took the bedroom. His foster mom, Mrs Oakley, set up the bed. She gave me an old night gown that she said she never wore. I changed and climbed into bed, and I was asleep within seconds. Then, that night, I had a nightmare.
I was in a dark room, wearing a blood red dress and black heels. I was looking towards the ground, then I looked up. My eyes were blood red. I then saw Lucifer, creeping towards me; a knife in his hand. Just as the knife made contact with my skin, I woke up to the white silk room in his home.
I sat up in a rush. My heart racing. I was still wearing Mrs Oakley's nightgown, and the dress, shoes, and jewelry were on the vanity. I turned into my pillow and screamed in terror. I wanted to die, then and there. I started to panic when I heard the pounding noise of running. My door flew open. I didn't know who it was, because my face was still in my pillow.
"Yvette," Lucifer said slightly calm, yet slightly angry. He seemed mad. I knew this for a fact and I didn't blame him. I didn't respond.
"Look at me, Yvette." He was calmer, but when I didn't move he became angry again. "Look at me!"
I immediately moved and the raise of his voice, tears flowing down my face. He sighed and calmed down a bit, and I grabbed the pillow next to me and put it in my lap.
"Why did you scream?" He asked, more calm than before.
"Because I'm back here!" My arms automatically stretched out. " I want to go home! I'm terrified here!"
If you understood that I'm not going to hurt you, then you wouldn't be."
I sighed and buried my face in the pillow on my lap, listening to the irony, still scared out of my mind. He walked slowly towards me, his footsteps light and gentle. He sat next to me. I tensed up; fear shook in my throat. He gently pulled me to him, soothing me by stroking my hair. I felt my face become red, and warm.
"I didn't mean to scare you."
"You don't scare me that much. . .it's your name."
"I know. My father didn't want to name me the name I have. My mother did. She told my father what I'd be. 'A demon' she said." I felt him flinch and tense up.
I sat there, terrified. His name played over and over in my head like a broken record. Never to stop.
'Lucifer. . .Lucifer. . .Lucifer. . ."
He was definitely my personal nightmare. If he was named after hell, I was in hell. It felt like hell.
"Your name. . .do you enjoy it?"
"No. I don't want people to fear me."
I thought he'd say something about power and control. I was shocked and surprised. I shuttered a little bit, but he didn't seem to notice.
Then, he asked a question I didn't think he'd ask for a long time.
"Does this change your thoughts of marrying me?"
I was speechless. I couldn't speak, nor move. My heart said 'You'll be free from your father!' while my head said 'No! Your father did this! He needs to get you out of it!'
Both were right, but I listened to my heart and said the unthinkable answer.
"No."
"You'll marry me??"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"I'll be free from my father's grasp. He won't save me, so maybe I'd be saving myself."
"You care very much about independence and responsibility."
"Yes. It's every girl's dream to have free choice and responsibility."
He paused for a very long moment. I then looked into his eyes, with confusion.
He sighed. "I was hoping-" He stopped mid-thought.
"What is it?"
"Nothing. Forget it."
"Please tell me."
He sighed. "I think I love you, Yvette."
I stared at him in shock and disbelief.
