I slowly walked forward. I heard the beautiful music; another live orchestra. I reached the top of the stairs and looked down at all of the dancing people. At the bottom of the stairs stood Sean. Then, one by one, people stopped and stared. All of this brought back so many memories. Sean was the last to turn. He was never quick to catch on. His jaw dropped and he stared at me in awe. I stifled a laugh and walked down the stairs and joined my fiance. He smiled.
"You look absolutely beautiful."
"Thank you. You look handsome, as well."
"Thanks, Oregon." I nudged him playfully with my elbow.
He rubbed his arm and smirked. "Would you like to dance?" I confidently asked him, talking in an over-sophisticated voice.
He laughed and smiled and mocked the same voice. "I thought you'd never ask, Madam."
"Mademoiselle. I'm not married. Yet." I winked at him as we joined others on the dance floor. It was nice not having to look up at someone while dancing with them. Sean was taller, but I was wearing heels, so I was about his height. We spun around, becoming one with the music. We laughed and danced the night away. Then, I stumbled over my own feet while we were dancing, and fell over. Sean and I laughed and he helped me up.
"You okay?" He asked, still laughing.
"Yeah," I replied, laughing as well. "Yeah, I'm okay."
Then, he and I walked over to a table that had a microphone lying on the table which was connected to a speaker. He picked up the microphone and spoke into it.
"Hello, everyone. I hope you're all having a great time as much as I am. I have an announcement to make. There is someone here who is very special to me. And I want to make this announcement to honor her. Yvette Perez, my wonderful, wonderful fiancé, thank you for everything. We've been partners in crime for years. Yvette and I, today, have become engaged and I am using this dance as a celebration." Then he picked up a water glass. "A toast, to my beautiful future bride. I love you."
Then he put down the microphone and took a drink from his glass as others clinked their glasses and drank from them as well. The whole time, I was blushing and smiling. Then someone spoke angrily from the top of the stairs.
"You cheating, vile, repulsive girl! How dare you! Do you not remember what we had?! "
Everyone, including me, turned to face the man. He started to descend down the stairs. I stared in slight horror at the nightmare vision. He was wearing all white. He had his button up shirt tucked into his white dress pants with a white cape floating gently behind him. The only non white thing he wore, were his gloves. His red, leather gloves. Then, I saw the white mask.
"Well?! Do you or do you not remember?!"
Then, I realized it was Lucifer. "I remember your torturous ways of controlling me. You left me, remember?! Forget it! You should go. You're ruining the moment." I took Sean's hand and held his arm with my free hand.
"How dare you speak to me that way in my house! Wearing the dress that I designed for you!"
"Yvette, how do you know this man?" Sean mumbled to me.
"I'll explain later." I mumbled back.
"Since this is my house, I will decide when this event is over. You all need to leave. Now." He turned around and started to walk away.
"Lucifer!" I yelled after him. People gasped at his name. He didn't turn. "Lucifer!" I started to run after him. When I reached him at the top of the stairs, I grabbed his wrist and spun him around.
