She was on the phone with them for an hour. I wanted to sleep, seeing that it was two in the morning, but I was too worried about him. Plus I was wearing the gown and I didn't want to take it off. The Corrina appeared. She was out of breath.
"Ms Perez," She said between breaths. "I'm so sorry I didn't retrieve you. Come change while you are waiting for an update."
She guided me from the ballroom backup to my room.
She laid out jeans and a blue flannel and a black undershirt. She helped me change out of the dress, and as she hung it up in my walk in closet, I changed. I entered the closet and looked at me shoes. I came across a pair of black vans and put them on.
"Why didn't you get me after the police left?"
"I was going around the house making sure the coast was clear. I distracted and completely forgot. It won't happen again, ma'am."
"It's okay. I was just wondering. And please; call me 'Yvette'."
She smiled, and I went back to the ballroom. The woman was sitting on the stairs. She must've heard me come in; She spoke.
"I never got your name, child."
"Yvette," I replied. "Yours?"
"Carla Samson."
"Well, 'Carla Samson', I believe you owe me answers." I said firmly.
"The police said we could go and talk to them in the morning."
"Why not now?!" I demanded.
"Yvette, it's two in the morning. You should sleep." Blaze spoke up.
"I can't! Not while my love is in danger! I have to go to him!" I started for the door, but Blaze stopped me by grabbing my wrist.
"Sleep, Yvette. He'll still be there in the morning." He said soothingly.
"What's the earliest we can go in?"
Seven in the morning."
"Okay. We'll leave at six-thirty. We need to be there a seven. Not a second after."
I went straight to my room once more. I didn't bother changing into my nightgown. When I got to my room and shut my door, I noticed my ring on my vanity. I snatched it up and put it back on my left ring finger. I plopped down on my bed, laying down with only my thoughts. I slowly drifted off to sleep as I made my vow.
"I promise I'll get you out of there..." Then I fell asleep as I heard Lucifer's voice say;
"I love you."
I had another nightmare that night..
I was walking though a long dark hall filled with empty jail cells. Then I heard screaming. It was a man's scream. I started to run. When I reached the end of the hall, there was a glass wall. I peered to the other side. I saw an officer taking the man to a chair. He was forced to sit. It was terrifying. He struggled to get out of the officer's grasp, but it was no use for him. Then I realized it was Lucifer. They put him in the electric chair and chained his wrists to the arm rests. Another officer pulled a lever. He screamed in pain, and I ran down into the room and switched the lever off. I tried to get him out of the chair, but he stopped me.
" 'Stop. This is the least I deserve.'"
" 'No! Don't say that!'"
" 'At least I got to see you one last time.'" An officer pulled me away from him, and another pulled the lever again. When the lever was switched off once more, I slowly approached his body. He was dead. Then, I woke up and screamed.
I looked at the clock. It was six-fifteen. I got up and made myself presentable. As I brushed my teeth, I noticed the sides of my face were wet and so were the areas under my eyes. I had been crying from my nightmare. I wiped my face dry and combed my hair. When I was ready, I found Corrina in the kitchen and asked where Carla was.
"She's in the dining hall waiting for you and Blaze."
"He's not going with is he?"
"He has connections to get Luci- I mean- the master out. Trust me. You want him to go."
Then I heard footsteps. I went to see if it was Blaze. Then he called my name.
"Yvette! I know how to get him out! I-" Then I heard him fall down the stairs.
"Blaze," I ran over and kneeled next to him. "Can you stand?"
He tried to stand, but he couldn't so he shook his head. Corrina came running and helped him up.
"I'll take care of him. You and Ms Samson go and explain the misunderstanding."
I nodded, looking to Blaze with worry.
"I'll be fine. You two go."
"I'm sorry." I said and ran to Carla. I grabbed my purse from the dining room and her, and we got in her car headed to the police station.
I was scared. I felt my nightmare from the night was the future. I could only hope for the best. As soon as we arrived, I jumped out of the car, ran inside the station, and approached the front desk. Before I could speak, Carla was there; speaking while walking from the doorway.
"Hello, sir. I believe there has been a misunderstanding. The man your officers took last night is innocent. He has done nothing wrong." She spoke with reluctance, and fakeness in her voice.
"The tip we received says otherwise, ma'am."
"Yes, the tip was a mistake. I believed this girl was in danger. She was not. It was a mistake on my behalf, Officer." She gestured to me."I'm sorry, but until he is proven innocent or guilty, he is to stay here."
Carla sighed. "Let's go, Yvette."
I didn't move. I wasn't going to leave without him.
"Isn't there anything you can do?"
"I'm sorry, hon," He was very sincere. "He must stay here."
"Hold on here. I thought the law was that if someone arrives to break someone out of jail they could do so by paying a fine. Can't we just do that?"
"That ain't the rule here. I'm sorry. He is to stay here until he is released."
"Can I see him? At least let me see him."
The officer thought for a long moment. I was hopeful.
