I took my time eating. I tried to act normal, but my face must've given something away. Jacob nor mom asked what was going on, which was nice, but they both looked at me with suspicion. Once dinner had finished, I did the dishes. Jacob wanted to help but I didn't let him.

"Yvette, what's going on? You're acting like you have somewhere to be."

"I'm just nervous about Luci," I lied. "She could get stuck somewhere."

"Then you go upstairs. I'll do the dishes."

I sighed and hurried to my room. I walked in and shut my door behind me. I found Luci curled up on her little pillow. I smiled and checked the time.

"Seven-thirty," I sighed. I didn't want to wait three more hours, so I called Lucifer. I wanted to see him sooner.

I dialed his number. He answered on the fifth ring.

"Hello." I could see his smile in my head as clear as day.

"Hi. Think you could come over earlier?"

He chuckled darkly. "What time?"

"Eight-forty five?" I suggested, hopeful.

"Eight-forty five it is then."

Then there was a knock on my door.

"See you later. Love you." I hung up just as my door opened.

"Who was that?" Mom asked.

"Boyfriend." I said. It wasn't a lie, but technically he wasn't a boy.

"Who is he?"

"His name is. . .Blaze." I felt bad for mentioning him and bringing him into this. I sighed.

She nodded. I knew she'd want to meet him eventually. Then she asked if i wanted to watch a movie. I told her I was tired and I just wanted to sleep. She nodded again, kissing my head and leaving me alone, shutting the door behind her.

I grabbed my towel and showered. The warm water was soothing. As soons as I was done, I looked through the clothes in my closet. I grabbed a black crop top, a pair of ripped black skinny jeans, blow dried my hair and brushed it straight, then put on a black beanie hat. I checked the time.

"Eight-thirty." I rushed back to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and did my makeup. My eyeshadow was a dark grey, my lips were red, and my eyelashes became darker because of the mascara. I took my time to look nice and presentable. Then, I texted Lucifer and told him my window was in the backyard. He texted back and said he was right in front of the house.

He was here. I checked my appearance in my full body mirror that hung on my door. My hair was silky smooth. I smiled, got out my rope ladder, and looked out my window. Beneath my window, was Lucifer. I opened the window and let the rope ladder fall. I hooked it onto the underside of my window sill. He started climbing up. I stood back, my heart pounding in my chest. I looked down at Luci who was pawing at my leg. I picked her up and stroked her. As he climbed through my window, I put Luci on my bed. She curled up right next to where I was standing. I then brushed the white cat hair off of my clothes. I looked up and there he stood. My heart raced. I smiled and ran into his waiting arms. He held me, and I wrapped my arms around him. I was glad to see him, and I knew he was glad to see me. I sighed.

"I've missed you." I whispered.

"I've missed you as well, Yvette." He sighed.

Then I put my hands on both sides of his face and looked into his eyes. I traced over the outline of his mask with my left middle finger. He shut his eyes and shivered.I chuckled silently. I wanted to see him fully, but I knew he didn't want me to see his scarred face. I hesitated with my fingers on the edges of his mask. I moved away from him so I wouldn't be tempted. He looked at me puzzled.

"I almost took your mask off. I moved because I knew I'd regret it later." I wrapped my arms around myself, gazing down at the floor. Then he was next to me. I refused to look at him, so he kneeled down and looked up into my eyes.

"What do you think would've happened if you had removed my mask?"

"You would've been angry with me."

"I was actually waiting for you to take it off." He stood as he spoke.

My head shot up and my eyes stared into his with confusion and shock.

"I'm not afraid anymore, Yvette," he spoke confidently. "Take it off."

My heart raced. Then my actions took control. I couldn't stop my hands from reaching his face. Then his mask was in my hands. I noticed he had turned around, facing away from me.

"Lucifer," I spoke softly. "I don't care how you look. I love you for you."

He sighed and faced me. What I saw didn't frighten me; it shocked me. My heart continued to race. I slowly approached him as curiosity filled my head. I cradled his head in my hands. As I scanned over his scarred face, my heart slowed. A slight smile spread across my face. His eyes were closed. I sighed. The scarred side was a slight burnt red. There were some partially healed scars that were only about an inch long. I then noticed a bigger scar. It reached from the end tip of his eyebrow to the center of his jawline. I pitied him. I could see the pain as he flinched at my touch when I traced gently over the bigger scar. I wasn't horrified or sickened. Not in the least bit. He then opened his eyes. They widened when he looked at my calm face.

"You aren't disgusted."

I shook my head, putting my arms down at my sides. "Not at all."

"How," He demanded. "I'm hideous."

"To me you're perfect."

"Perfection does not exist for me. It never will."

I was starting to get frustrated. So, I took my hands gently to his face once more.

"I'll prove you wrong!" I then kissed him. He kissed back. I sensed he had become relaxed as his hands pulled me closer to him, resting on my waist. I stopped kissing him and he pressed his forehead to mine.

"If I believed you were hideous, I wouldn't have kissed you. Like I said; to me you're perfect."

He smiled and chuckled slightly. I smiled in return as he brought his lips back to mine.
