I told her about the ball that Sean invited me to. She knew what I was talking about. She said she could help me get ready there. It was the morning before the ball, so I would have to head over there around three in the afternoon. I put on skinny jeans, a galaxy tank top, and sneakers. I brushed my teeth and my hair. By ten in the morning, I was ready to take on the day. I hadn't seen Jacob after I was released so I went downstairs to see him. When I walked in the living room, he was sitting on the couch with whom I remember to be his friend Dylan. They both looked up and saw me.
"Yvette!" Jacob immediately stood and grasped me in a tight hug.
"Hi, Jacob." I smiled slightly. Then his grasp got tighter around my waist and it hurt my scar. I flinched.
"Ow. Uh, Jake. . .You're hurting me. You can let go now." I chuckled slightly.
"Sorry," He let go, then abruptly became serious. "Don't you ever do that again! You scared me!"
"I promise I have no intentions of doing it again."
"Good."
Over his shoulder, I noticed Dylan looking at me with worry, as if I didn't mean it. I did, I truly did. Lucifer, if he were dead, he wouldn't want me to have gone off. He would have wanted me to live my life, to be 'free of his grasp'. I wanted to live my life, but I didn't want to be free from his grasp. I wanted to do anything I could to be with him. I missed him, but I had to move on. So, I started to.
"I'll miss him," I told myself. "But I have to live my life."
"Thanks for calling Sean, Jacob."
"You're welcome. I knew you'd need him."
I smiled. Then Jacob turned to Dylan.
"You remember my sister, right?"
Dylan nodded. I remembered him too. He didn't say 'hello' or anything. He just sat there and stared at me. I felt uneasy and uncomfortable. I looked away and looked back to my brother.
"Dylan and I were going to go to the mall. Want to come?"
"I was just going to watch a movie and relax with Luci. You two go ahead."
"Okay. We'll see you later." He waved as they left, and I waved back.
I sighed and walked up to my room. I turned on the TV which hung on my wall and lied down on my bed wirth Luci. I scrolled through the movies on Netflix. I turned on 'Futurama'. I relaxed and pet Luci. Everything seemed just fine at moment. Then, Luci suddenly meowed and jumped off my bed. She hurried over to her bowl.
"Oh! I'm sorry, Luci!" I put a scoop of food in her bowl, and gave her fresh water as well as she happily chowed down.
I returned to my bed and watched the show. I sighed and felt content as ever. I missed Lucifer, but maybe this was all for the best. I thought about my time at that house. I thought of how we danced and ended up in prison for a day even though I was asleep the whole time. I chuckled at myself and closed my eyes, smiling slightly.
Later, I heard meowing from the bottom of my bed. I looked down, and Luci was pawing at me. I picked her up and placed her on my stomach. She curled up into a ball and I stroked her. Then my bedroom door opened.
"Sean is here to visit you, Yvette."
"Okay. I'll be down in a minute."
Then she closed the door and returned downstairs. I paused my show and sat Luci gently on her pillow. Then I fixed my hair and clothes and started walking towards the stairs. Then I heard the two of them talking. I stopped, hiding at the top of the stairs.
