When I came out of my house, I went left.

But I knew I'd soon go right again.

I was so happy I ran all the way to the tracks.

She was there picking at her nails.

She looked nervous.

In her red dress.

"I like your dress"

- Thank you

Her voice was shaky.

I thought it was cute how nervous she was.

"It's okay. He's a nice guy."

I told her this, even though I didn't mean it entirely. I mean he was nice, sort of.

I took a pop tart out of my pocket.

"Have you eaten breakfast yet?"

- Mhmm

She nodded looking at the ground.

"You're quite the hypocrite."

I said chuckling.

For someone who hated liars, she lied quite a lot.

"Eat. At least one of the pop tarts, I'll eat the other one."

She looked at the pop tart a long time and then shook her head.

"How about half a pop tart?"

She looked at the pop tart again.

For 27 seconds.

Then she nodded. Almost guiltily.

- I'm breaking all my rules for you.

"And I for you."

- How so?

I broke the pop tart in half and gave her one of the halfs, she took it from me hungrily.

"You make me want to live."

She smiled and linked her arm with mine.

- Which way to your shrink?

I laughed and lead her up the hill to where my house was.

"We have to take the bus."

- Oh.

We stood at the bus stop and waited for it to come.

"I haven't seen your cigarette around, lately."

I had to squint at her since the sun was so bright.

- I haven't been needing it, lately.

"Why not?"

- You take my breath away, enough.

I swear that I felt my entire body tingling.

She made my body actually tingle.

Jesus christ, what a sap I was.

The bus came about seven minutes later and we both put in change and sat down in the back.

- Greyson?

"Hmm?"

- What religion are you?

"I was once Jewish."

- oh.

"How about you."

- I'm catholic.

She stared at me a couple seconds in deep thought.

- what do you mean you 'were once Jewish?'

"I just stopped following the faith of Judaism. Instead I live by my own set philosophies and morals."

She looked fascinated, it made me smile.

- what kind of philosophies?

"A couple.

I believe that each one of us will die, because it's inevitable. So life and slaving away for life is pointless."

I looked over to see her absorbed in what i'd just said.

"That's why I tried to kill myself."

- oh. What else?

"The 'normal' people of the world are more ignorant than those who they deem crazy."

- what do you mean?

"They think people like me are oblivious to the world around them."

"Wanna know what I think?"

- what?

"I think people like them are oblivious to the world around them."

- how so?

"Normal people hardly question things that seem normal, but just might not be. It's an endless oblivion fueled by a wide spread ignorance that we accept as normal."

- and?

"And so oblivion is a synonym for what?"

- the worlds two-dimensional definition for normal.

"Correct."

- Wow.

She breathed.

"Oh, we have to get off right here."

I pushed the button to signal the driver to stop at the next stop, took Iris's hand, and got off the bus.

As we ran through the busy streets and hoards of people I finally found the big skyscraper that I was to find him.

I pushed the button for the 13th floor and waited. Our hands were still laced together.

Then she leaned over and pressed her lips to my cheek.

Her lips were soft and I could smell her perfume.

I don't know how many seconds her lips lasted on my cheeks.

I forgot to count.

But when she pulled away I could still feel her lips.

- You're the best thing that's happened to me in a while, Greyson.

She whispered into my ear.

I knew it.

She was more than her yellow dress.

And I also knew.

She would leave my heart as hungry as her body was.

Because her body and I,

We both craved the same thing;

Her love.
