Chapter 5: driving me insane

"I'm supposed to say 'yes'" - Betty Cooper

Betty's POV
I sit still as a mouse on my bed waiting for my phone to ring. I know the black hood will call eventually. As the days pass I get more nervous. 3 days since his last call, 3 days. The time came. I heard the horrible screeching sounds of the ring tone.
"Betty Cooper, ready to begin?" The Black hood states.
"What do you want?" I ask
"You're ex friend Veronica." He starts.
"What about her?" I ask.
"Embarrass her at her party this weekend." He states.
"I wasn't playing on going." I explain.
"Go to the party, do what I said or if you don't your lover boys gets it." He says as he hangs up.
I lay down on my bed to get my heart steady again. I was hoping V and I could be friends again but this will definitely end things for good.

Archie's POV
I looked at my window to see what seemed like a stressful Betty.
A: Hey Betty you ok?
B: Yeah just fine
A: you seem stressed
B: yeah just some homework nothing I can't handle.
I knew Betty well enough to know there was something up with her but she wouldn't admit it. She never did admit when something was wrong with her.
A: want to be my date to Veronica's party?

Betty's POV
A: want to be my date to Veronica's party?
The words replayed through my head. Archie wants me to be his date at Veronica's party?
B: you're going?
A: yeah, Veronica and I are friends again, she told me she wants to fix her friendship with you too.
Just when Veronica wanted to fix things as well. I have to embarrass her at her own party.
B: I don't think you'd want to be my date.
A: Betty there's no one else I'd rather go with.
B: alright.
I was not looking forward to the party.

Archie's POV
Finally it's the night of the party, I finally get to talks Betty as my date. It wasn't really an official date but I still wanted to make it a great night. I brought her flowers and everything. It was in that moment I realised I was cheesy. I laughed to myself and continued to get ready. Once I was ready I walked over to Betty's.

Betty's POV
I wear my hair down for once. I put on a baby blue dress and begin with my makeup. "Betty Archie's here!" I hear my mum yell.
"Be down soon." I reply. I finish with my lipstick. I look in the mirror, shake off some nerves and walk down stairs. "Oh Elizabeth you look beautiful." My mum states.
"Thanks mum." I reply.
"Be safe sweetie." She claims.
"Always." I reply before leaving. I walk outside where I'm greeted by Archie.

Archie's POV
I was completely breathless when Betty came outside. She looked so beautiful. Well she always looks beautiful but something about it made it different. "You look beautiful." I state.
"Ha, Thanks Arch. You don't look to bad either." She replies.
"I got you flowers." I say.
"Thanks." She replies. I lean in and kiss her. She kisses back before ending it. "Arch I thought we were stopping that." She states. She was right we were but I wanted nothing more then to kiss her.

Betty's POV
After a calm full car ride we finally arrived at Veronica's. We hop out of the car and walk up stairs. "Betty, I'm so happy you came." Veronica claims.
"Yeah me too." I say before waking inside and finding somewhere to sit. I didn't want to be mean to Veronica, I wanted to be her friend again but now I have to flush out that idea down the toilet. Veronica had her ways with boys. She dances around with a circle of boys around her and of course Archie was one. "Come on Betty come have fun." Veronica says.
"Like you, you mean?" I reply.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She ask.
"I just think you're acting like an air head party girl." I snap.
"I thought you came here trying to repair a friendships?" She states.
"I tried, but I can't." I claim.
"Well if I'm so horrible why are you still here?" She yells. Just like that I leave no questions asked. I speed out that door far away from the party. I find I park bench and sit down, letting the tears roll off my face.

Archie POV
I had no clue what was happening. That's not how Betty acts, something had to be up with her. "What you want to chase after her Archie, be my guests?" Veronica states, standing there.
"I have to Veronica." I claim.
"You don't have to Archiekins. You can forget about her and have me." She replies.
"Veronica, she's my bestfriend I'm going after her." I say then leave on the adventure to find Betty.

Betty's POV
I heard the song that destroys my life once again. "Hello?" I say.
"You did the right thing Betty. Cutting the daughter of a criminal out of your life is perfect." The blackhood says.
"She's not her farther." I states.
"No, but she's knows the secrets of her family business. Which screams shady to me." The blackhood states. "We'll be in touch again soon." He continues before ending the call.

Archie's POV
After what felt like hours looking for Betty, I finally found her. I walk up and sit next to her on the park bench. "The blackhood?" I ask.
"Yep." She replies.
"You really care for Jughead don't you." I ask.

Betty's POV
Silly Archie still not realising it's him not Jughead. "No answer?" Archie states. "Betty you don't have to play his games." Archie says.
"It's harder then you think." I claim.
"Betty's he's hurting you and the people around you." He says.
"Arch, he's driving me insane." I claim. I show Archie the cuts on my hands from where I've consistently dug my nails into my own skin. He seemed shocked.

Archie's POV
"Arch, he's driving me insane." Betty cries. She reveals the cuts on her palm, the pain she's in must be crazy. At first I was shocked. Then I wrapped my hand in here and held them tightly. "Betty, I'm always here for you." I reply. I bring her into a hug still holding her hands. In that moment I wanted nothing more then to kiss her but I couldn't. "Come on, it's cold I'll drive you home." I suggest.
"Soon, I'm not ready to let go yet." She replies. I wasn't ready to either. I was falling hard for Betty.
