Natsuki's P.O.V.
I opened the door of our apartment slowly and walked in. I closed the door behind me, and looked around. My mother was on the couch in the living room reading something. I walked over to her as she looked up at me and smiled.
"Natsuki, you're home!" she beamed," How was your day?"
"Good," I said.
"That's good," she said," You seem to be talking a little more than usual, so I assume that you're becoming close friends with Nagisa."
I nodded my head.
"We met a few other people today while Nagisa was showing me around," I said while walking over to the kitchen.
"Really?" asked my mother as she looked up from her book," Who'd you meet?"
"Well," I said while opening the fridge," First, I met Karma, a friend of Nagisa's. Then I met Isogai and a group of people from their school called the Five Virtuosos."
"That's cool," said my mother.
"And mother," I said seriously as I grabbed a can of root beer from the fridge," I met Sakaki's cousin."
My mother looked at me shocked. She hadn't expected me to say that nickname for a while, but then smiled.
"That's cool," she said," Hey Natsuki!"
I opened the can and looked at my mother. She was looking at me with this look that said she just found the best thing since sliced bread.
"Guess what I found?" she asked excitedly.
I shrugged my shoulders while drinking some of the root beer. My mother pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket and waved it in the air.
"I found out that there's a bookstore not to far away!" she beamed," It's huge and I was wondering if you wanted to go."
I lowered the can of root beer onto the counter and walked over to my mother. I grabbed the piece of paper and read it. There were directions on it, and I assumed that they led to the bookstore that my mother was talking about.
"You can go to it now, if you want," said my mother," I know how much you need something that will distract you from those nightmares."
I looked at her with a look that says are you serious. My mother nodded her head, causing me to run to my room, grab my wallet, and run towards the front door of the apartment. Before I could open it, my mother called out to me.
"Don't stay out to long. We don't know what kind of people are out there at this time of night," she said.
I sighed and rolled my eyes while opening the door.
"Also," said my mother," We have an appointment with the principle of your new school tomorrow. He wants to figure out what class he'll put you in."
"Okay," I said while closing the door.
I walked towards the stairs and started making my way down to the first floor. When I did, I looked at the directions that I took from my mother and made my way to the bookstore. As I walked, I noticed that the sun was almost completely out of sight. This caused a lot of stars to be visible. They were beautiful, and they almost made me smile. It's another thing that makes me relaxed.
After a few minutes, I finally got to the bookstore. I walked into the building and looked around. It was pretty big, but that was fine with me. Some people really like books, but I'm not one of them. Why'd I come here, you may ask. Because I really need something to take my mind off of those nightmares, like my mother said.
I started walking around, looking at the different books, until I got to the manga section. I decided to look at some of the series here, since I've heard there are a lot of good manga series. In the end, I got every Puella magi, Pandora Hearts, Clamp, and Attack on titan book that exists. It's a lot of books, but I felt like it was going to be worth it. I started making my way to the front counter until I past the magazine section. I was going to continue walking, but I noticed a weird man with a very spherical face. He was wearing an outfit that screamed teacher and had a black tie with an orange crescent moon on it.
I took a closer look at the man and noticed something kinda disturbing. He was reading a magazine with a women in a very revealing bikini on the front. Not to mention, he was blushing like crazy. I got chill looking at this, wondering what was actually in that magazine.
I was about to turn my head and continue walking until the man turned his head to look at me. When he noticed me, the man started panicking.
"It's not what you think," he started yelling," I was just...... uh.... doing research!"
I stare at him with a look that said 'really?'. He started panicking more when he saw this, causing me to look away.
"I really don't want to know what this research you're doing is," I stated while walking away.
The man continued panicking as I walked out of view. I walked to the front counter, paid, and left the bookstore. As I walked home, clouds started covering the sky. I realized that it was going to rain soon, so I ran as fast as I could with a stack of books. Once I got home, it started raining. I sighed in relief and opened the front door. I looked around the apartment to find my mother cooking something. I slowly closed the door behind myself and quietly walked to my room, trying not to disturb my mother. Once I got to my room, I put all the books on the bookshelf and started reading one. After an hour, I started the next one, then the next, then the next.
And before I knew it, I stayed up all night reading manga.
