I nod"Yea,Peggs it's us. I'm sorry we are so late." I say sitting beside her holding her hand.
"It's ok. I'm just glad you're finally here." she says patting my hand.
"You should be proud." Steve says gently as he looks at the photos.
"Mm. I have lived a life. My only regret is that you didn't get to live yours." Peggy says referring to Steve and I.
"I'm not sure that's in the cards anymore. The world is so different,more dangerous now. Always someone who needs saving. Someone to take down." I trail off.
"There are always going to be dangers Lyn. All we can do is our best to muddle through with people we love." Peggy says and I look up at Steve then back at Peggy,
"What was it like after the war? How did you meet your husband?" I ask. She smiles and tells us her story Steve and I listening like a couple of kids.
"That's amazing Peggy." Steve says as she finishes.
"Steve, do you mind giving Evelyn and I some privacy?" she ask.
"Not at all. I'll be just outside." he says stepping out.
"I see things have changed between you two. Your colder now. Not as close as before." she says.
"I know. I want to get back to that again,but I'm scared to loose him again. I I can't go through that again. I. I can't go through that again,and on top of that I have SHEILD trying to recruit me and assign me to the Avengers. I just don't know if I'm still capable of going to war Peggs." I ramble out.
Peggy chuckles"Remember to breath little sister. I know your scared to loose him and scared to get back into the field again,but what scares you most is being stuck in a boring life. You and Steve were meant to fight by eachother,love eachother. You two are perfectly matched in every way possible. Talk to him. Get everything out in the open it helps. And never go to bed angry."
I nod soaking up the advice she just gave me" You've always been the smart one."
"No, Michael was the smart one. " she says.
I nod and look down thinking about going bring flowers to his grave while I'm here.
"He is buried next to mom and dad in the family plot." she says as if reading my mind.
I smile"Thank you."
She starts coughing and I get her some water and she looks at me like she hasn't seen me in years"Evelyn!" she exclaims and tears up as Steve quietly enters."Your alive! You came back." she says crying.
I wipe her tears away a few of my own slipping out"Yes, Peggs. I'm here now." I say kissing her head.

Steve steps out and the nurse tells me I have to go. Peggy cries more,but I vow to come back to see her soon wiping my tears away before she sees. I let go of her hand and head to Steve my eyes full of tears.
He wraps his arms around me"It's going to be ok doll." he says in a soothing voice.
I wipe my eyes"Yea,I know it will be. I love you Steve and I don't want to lose you again." I say as Steve brings me to the rental car that finally arrived. He drives us to the hotel and parks it.
"Would you like to go out for lunch?" he ask.
I smile and nod"Yea. And we can talk about things we have probably been trying to avoid. Get everything out in the open."
"Sounds like a plan." Steve says holding my hand as we walk down the sidewalk. "Are you afraid of losing me?" he ask due to my comment earlier.
I nod wrapping my arms around one of his "Yes. I. I lost you once and I'm so scared of losing you again. And I would never ask you to retire. It doesn't help that i'm not sure if I want to take Fury up on his offer to join SHEILD and be an Avenger."
He stops"Fury wants you for the team? When did you find out? Why didn't I know this?"
"I found out when Fury stopped by after I left the hospital. He wants to give me time to think it over before he tells you." I admit.
He nods and resumes walking"Makes sense. What are you leaning toward? If I may ask?"
"I'm leaning toward yes. What Peggy said put a lot of things into prospective." I reply"And someone needs to keep you and Tony from killing each other." I joke.
Steve chuckles as we approach a little hole in the wall cafe"That is very true." He says.
We get seated and he pulls my chair out before sitting down himself. We holds hands as we order drinks.
"Evie, I'm sorry I didn't make it back to you. It tore me apart thinking I would never get to live a long happy life with you. I can't promise you forever,but I can promise you till the end of the line." He says his blue eyes looking into my soul soothing all my fears.
I nod and blink away tears"I have dreams. It's like I'm back there talking to you then the line cuts out and I relive it all over again. And again. And again." I say my hands shaky.
Steve kisses my hands"I am here now. We are together again. " he soothes me as our drinks come. We let go of eachother and order our food.
"I feel responsible for what happened to you after I went down." He admits looking down.
I cup his face"Look at me Love." I say gently waiting till I see his wonderful blue eyes"What happened after was because of me. You had nothing to do with it love. I promise you."
He nods" Can I take you to dinner tonight? Fancey place?"he ask me.
I smile"I would love that very much." I agree.
