CHAPTER TWO:

ATTACKED

Jacob heard a car come up the drive way. He sat up from the couch and turned off the television. He was just watching the sport channel, getting the jiffs of the game that he missed a couple of hours earlier because he was still at the beach.

He looked out the living room window to see Edward’s car come up the drive way. After it topped, Edward turned the car off and he then got out. Jacob watched him go to the passenger side of the car and take Renesmee out. She was sleeping. Edward carried her like a baby as he walked to the front door. Jacob met them there and opened the door for them.

“Are you sure that she wanted to come back here?” Jacob asked his father-in-law.

“Yes, she’s calmed down a bit.” Edward answered as he set Renesmee on the couch and wrapped his blanket around her.

Jacob nodded and Edward turned to face him. Jacob knew what was coming, so he motioned Edward into the kitchen. They both sat at the table, looking across from each other. Jacob was in his normal seat and Edward was in Renesmee’s seat.

“When she came over she was really upset and scared.” Edward told Jacob.

“I know. I do believe that she saw something, but my pack was looking out for hours. I only got home almost an hour ago. We found no trace of anything and not a smell, but the scent can be deceiving because the water can loose the trace, but not even on the beach did we get anything.” Jacob told him.

Edward nodded.

“She did see something. I looked into her mind and I saw it too. Of course, I was seeing it as Renesmee was seeing it, so maybe her imagination did get ahead of her.” Edward said.

“I guess. I don’t know. She was pretty sure of herself and that the thing touched her.” Jacob answered.

“Yeah.” Edward agreed.

“Have you seen or smelled anything out of the ordinary?” Jacob asked him.

“No. I am suspecting that your pack hasn’t either. Have you contacted Sam?” Edward asked.

“Yes. None of them have came across anything out of the ordinary either.”

“It must just be Renesmee. I explained to her that maybe it was her imagination, but she freaked out at me. My family is now running up and down our territory to see if he came onto our turf. They said that if they found anything they would call, but I haven’t gotten one yet.”

“It just seems to weird. I know that Renesmee saw something because she was terrified and in such a rage that we didn’t believe her. She saw something, but there is nothing to identify what it was.”

“When I was going through her mind, it almost looked as if it was a person that she saw with a scared face.”

“I’ve got nothing to back that up.”

“Neither do I.”

We both nodded.

“Well…maybe I can talk to her. I’ll let her sleep everything on her mind off and then I’ll talk to her tomorrow.” Jacob said.

Edward nodded.

“Alright. I better go then. I’ll call you if my family finds anything.” Edward said.

“I will too. Thanks for bringing her home.” Jacob told him.

They both nodded at each other and Edward walked out of the house and back into his car. When Jacob heard his car go down the drive way, he got up and walked to the living room to see that his wife was still sleeping soundly on the couch. Seeing that it was almost eleven at night, Jacob turned on the lamp that was on a desk beside the couch. He put it on the lowest mode before leaning over and kissing her cheek. She stirred a bit.
