CHAPTER TEN:

CHELSEA ADAMS-CULLEN

Colton jumped awake when he felt a finger poke is shoulder gently. He quickly jumped up in the air, ready for an attack, but when he saw his little sister, he sighed and swore under his breath. Chelsea wasn’t surprised by his reaction. When they were with Joham, he taught them to act on every surprise that they could and to be ready as well as they could be. He also taught them not to over react at anything.

“Dammit, Chelsea Bella-Tia!” Colton told her as he then relaxed in his bed.

Chelsea sighed. When Colton took a closer look at her from the lamp that was still on at the bed that Carita was in, he saw that she was pale, her eyes wide, fear burning through them. She was hugging herself. She was wearing a set of pajamas that the Volturi had bought for her. She wore purple silk pajamas and she had her long, black hair in a braid.

He looked out of the window to see that it was maybe midnight and when he looked at the clock, he saw that it was almost one in the morning.

“What do you want?” Colton asked her annoyed.

Chelsea sighed and looked around her as if to make sure that no one was watching her. He could tell that she was scared from something.

“Can I sleep with you?” Chelsea asked him.

He sighed. All of his anger and annoyance had then left him at that point. His little sister was scared. He hated to see her like that. He was terrified of hurting his little sister, especially after Joham had gotten ahold of her.

“Did you have another nightmare?” he asked gently.

She nodded and hugged herself tighter.

“I’ve been trying to get to sleep since eleven thirty, but I can’t.” Chelsea told him.

“Then why don’t you go talk to mom and dad?” he asked.

“I don’t want to bother them.” Chelsea told him.

Colton sighed before he nodded and said, “come on in then.”

Chelsea came in the bed as Colton folded the blanket for her. When Chelsea was under the covers, Colton folded them over her again gently. She snuggled up closer to him and Colton placed his arm around his little sister. He gently kissed her forehead and rubbed her arm with the hand that he had wrapped around her.

“Was your nightmare about him?” Colton asked her gently.

Chelsea nodded and Colton held her tighter.

“He will never hurt you like that again Chelsea. I promise.” Colton told her gently.

Chelsea nodded again and closed her eyes. She felt a couple of tears rise in her eyes, but she did her best to hold them in. Colton took his other hand to gently stroke her face and she moved into the soft, strong, comfortable, and protective hand.

“He will die, Chel. He will. He won’t ever be able to hurt you ever again and he will be permanently out of your life altogether.” Colton told her.

“I know.” Chelsea whispered.

Colton rubbed her arm and watched her until he was sure she was asleep. He felt his anger slowly rising, but he always remained calm. He couldn’t understand how or why Joham would do this to her. Chelsea was already a person who took longer to grow and learn, but then she had that. His parents had to hospitalize her for almost a month. She went into a deep depression. At one time he could remember that she wouldn’t eat or move. She went four days without food before Colton final got her to cave and eat something.
