Oh Wonder - Technicolour Beat

***

Avery Donavon's eyes focused on a rubber ball that she threw carefully up in the air. She was back in her cell, lying on one of the benches as she caught the ball again.

She smirked when the door opened, the ball reaching for the stars before landing back into her palm for her to throw it into the air again. "Finished being unreasonable?"

"Finished being an idiot and a dickwad?" she replied, catching the ball swiftly and sitting up so she was facing Diyoza and Kane. They looked blankly at her while she let out an amused chuckle. "I didn't think so."

Diyoza sighed before looking to Kane, Avery going back to throwing the ball in the air. Kane stepped forwards and set beside her as Diyoza left the room. "This is the lives of your people that-"

Avery looked up. "Do you think I don't know that, Kane?" she told him. "You have information that wasn't yours to give. Octavia's life on the ark didn't concern you whatsoever when you were up there but now she's the leader of Wonkru, you tell the enemy what they need to know."

"They're not the enemy."

Avery let out a soft chuckle. "You really have grown a sense of humor in the bunker, Kane." she began.

Diyoza entered the room again as Avery turned around. "Are you going to help us?"

Avery looked down, thinking how she could get the most of Diyoza. "I get a gun and a radio." she said. "After that and your word that none of your perople won't touch Raven or Murphy or any of my people, then I'll help you."

"Give me your word that you won't use it on any one of my people." Diyoza asked, unstrapping a gun from her holister.

Avery didn't reply, Diyoza handing her the gun carefully. "I only hope I won't have to." Avery told her before taking it in her hand.

She checked the bullets before aiming it to the corner of the room, closing one eye to aim. The two adults brased themselves for her to shoot, her gun lowering immediately as she tucked it into the side of her trousers with the safety still on. (Like Bellamy in season one)

"I'm in."

Avery sat with Kane and Charmaine, unhappy with the situation she was in.

She blanked out, sipping on the drink before looking at MacCreary who was standing up. "What is this?"

"We need a place to house the defectors." Diyoza replied to him.

"Defectors?" MacCreary chuckled. "You and your politics. Two missiles and this war would be over."

Avery looked towards Kane before cutting her eyes towards the man again. "And then what? How many of our people are farmers? How many are engineers?" Diyoza glanced to Avery slightly.

"How many are expected to die of a mystery virus?" Kane said.

MacCreary raised his gun at Avery, the girl rolling her eyes at him. "Say that again."

Avery looked to Diyoza. "Stand down, McCreary." the leader of Eligus said. "Abby's working around the clock to find a cure for you and the others. You kill Avery or Kane and all that goes away. Besides, Avery is a engineer so it means she's useful to us."

Avery kept a smug smile on her face. "You think we're dividing their forces, but they are dividing ours." MacCreary said. Diyoza looked to Avery before standing in front of her. "I thought you wanted to win this war."

" 'In war, the greatest victory is one that requires no battle.' " Diyoza recited. Avery looked to her father-figure, worried. "Sun Tzu."

"We have everything the valley, the weapons, the eye in the sky. They have nothing. They're already hungry, and now they're watching their leader burn food." MacCreary said. "We're the only thing that can defeat us."
