Avery Donavon strode into the usual meeting place, her mind conflicted as she sat on a bench. "I know you're there, Diyoza." Diyoza appeared behind her. "What does MacCreary coming back mean?"
"Nothing short of a civil war."
"Then I want my people out of it, especially Murphy, Raven, Emori and Echo."
"I should give you something of yours." Diyoza replied as Avery stopped. She pulled out her sword from the holder before Avery turned herself around to look at it.
She reached over for it before letting herself smile for once. "Thank you, Diyoza." She said, remembering how she found it. Diyoza pulled out her baton as well, Avery chuckling. "I'm not even going to thank you for that one, this is mine."
Avery glanced down at it before her smile dropped. "I don't know MacCreary well but I think I know you better, so can you tell me the truth?" Diyoza nodded for her to continue. "Why are you helping us?"
Diyoza sat down, putting her hand in a drawer and pulling out two cups and a bottle of whiskey. Avery shook her head. "You're avoiding the question and you're pregnant."
"And you've been avoiding me." She replied. Avery breathed in before putting her head in her hands. "Being a leader by yourself is hard, huh?"
"Usually, my family and I make these choices together." she began, remembering the ark and almost missing it. "It's hard being alone in stuff like this when it could affect every one of my people."
Diyoza chuckled. "For a second, I thought I heard a hint of emotion in your voice."
Avery sat up, a small grin on her face. "Keep on dreaming." she told her before pouring out a shot and downing it. "It gets better." she replied before glaring to the floor.
"I've not heard anything from your friend, are you sure they're going to go through with the plan?"
Avery nodded. "I trust them. At this point, war is the last option especially with everything we have gone through." she remembered everything clearly, the images clashing through her mind as she stated at the floor. She snapped out of it when Diyoza called her name. "Yeah, sorry. I'm going to go." she told her before leaving the ship. She walked through before spotting MacCreary walking towards her.
She spotted him before turning around and speed walking the other way until he caught up. "MacCreary, what can I do for you today?" she laughed nervously.
"What are you doing outside?" he told her.
She furrowed her eyebrows, pointing to the ground in front of her. "Walking."
"Y-"
"Last time I checked, I didn't need a keeper. Thanks for your concern but I'm done talking to you." She said before turning on her heel.
"I need someone like you on my side." MacCreary told her, grabbing her arm and forcing her to face him. "Murphy's told me what you've done, the ring of fire and there's always a place for you on my squad and with my people. You're strong, I need someone like that."
Avery tugged her arm away as her hand collided with his cheek with a swift smack. "You can kiss my worthless ass if you think that I'm following you into anything. I'd rather die than follow scum like you." She went to walk away before going back and speaking. "And never touch me again, MacCreepy, or you'll be on the wrong side of me and every one who is ends up dead one way or another."
She spotted Diyoza watched her, clenching her jaw before she strode towards the church, walking up the steps quickly.
Once she entered, she dropped every thing to go and great the newbies. She smiled, hugging Murphy first. He didn't realise she was, looking down before smiling slightly. "Hey, tiny." he joked. "Missed me?"
