A PIERCING SOUND RIPPED IN my ears and I mumbled refusing to be distracted from the part where the groom was supposed to kiss the bride, which was me. I had begged God to wait for me to get married, give birth to thirteen children and grow old before sounding the trumpet, but instead he thought it was a better idea to sound it exactly on my wedding day, before kissing the groom!
It's official, I'm gonna die a virgin.
The sound was consistent and it seemed like the sound had slowly changed into a hip-hop song. So God listened to hip-hops? Wow.
"Goddammit! Leah, could you stop that please? I'm trying to sleep here!" a voice yelled.
A voice very familiar to my brother's, aka, the one I had them kidnap and tie up to prevent him from ruining my wedding.
My eyes opened but the trumpet didn't stop. In fact, it was sounding right on top of my bedside table from the device they call 'phone'. Great, it was an alarm. And of course I wasn't in my wedding gown anymore but instead in my sleepwear. A three quarter sleeved pink monkey adorned top I've been wearing since I was ten and matching trousers that no longer bothers to reach my ankles.
I groaned. Welcome to my life.
Putting off the alarm, my eyes accidentally flew to the time and I shot off the bed. Oh shit! I smell lateness. I rushed to the bathroom, pulled of my almost a decade old clothing and took a hurried bath, changed into first day of school acceptable clothes before going to the room next door to bother my brother.
"Rise and shine lil bro!" I sang, jumping on the bed.
"I rebuke you! Be gone!" he mumbled, pressing his head further into the pillow.
"In case you don't know, it's the first day of school and I don't plan on being late so if you could kindly point me the car keys, you can gladly die in bed for all I care."
"Harsh! And I'm not having you trash my car." he said while standing up and attacking his left eyes with his fist.
"Ha ha, funny! Do you need help getting a black eye? 'Cause I'll gladly help!" I yelled after him as he retreated into the bathroom.
