"WHAT DO YOU GUYS ENJOY in this thing?" I scrunched my face up and twisted my mouth as the alcohol burned its way down my throat.
"It's amazing, isn't it?" Andrea giggled beside me, causing me to do the same. By this time, my eyes were already seeing things in twos and my head was doing its own dance but Andrea seemed to still be alright even though she drank more than I did.
"You're an alcoholic Drea. How do you still manage to know where your mouth is?" she giggled again, finding everything ridiculously funny. The main purpose of drinking so much is to be courageous.
Andrea had urged me to drink so I wouldn't be shy to talk to Troy. I looked at him again, he was sitting quietly with his friend, a bottle in his hand. "You ready, Leah?" Andrea asked, seriously. Too serious as if I was going to a war front.
"Yes" I said while downing another shot. I needed it.
"Okay, now you're going to go there" drink, "bat your lashes at him, talk softly in his ear and after that" drink, "aim for his lips. I can already see them begging to be kissed by you. Now take off your jacket and show him some skin"
I take another drink and shrugged off my jacket. A voice was telling me that this was a bad idea but a stronger one—Drea's voice—was telling me to go for it. If anything went wrong, I could easily blame it on the alcohol. So with a determined look on my face, I took a mouthful of the drink and turned to walk away.
I felt a slap on my ass and when I turned to reward the person's face with my fist, it was Andrea smiling at me and yelling to, "Go for it girl!" with her fist in the air.
The walk to Troy's side took forever, with my legs trying to disobey me and almost giving out or going the wrong way but finally I arrived at his side in one piece. Green eyes stared at me and for a moment, I forgot to breathe. His friend was soon dragged away and when I turned to look at who was dragging him away, I couldn't see her face but the hair was the same shade as Drea's.
Taking the cue, I sat beside him and brushed my shoulder against his. "Hey Troy." my voice sounded weird in my ears.
"Leah, I didn't know you were here"
"But I knew you were here. You couldn't be missed even if you tried."
He chuckled, "So, how are you studying for the test?"
I rolled my eyes and batted my lashes. That should do the trick. "What's wrong with your eyes? Does it hurt?"
"My eyes?" I had no idea what he was talking about.
"Yeah, you were blinking and I thought something had entered."
Oh. My. God. I'm going to die from embarrassment.
"Oh, it's gone. Don't worry yourself, they're not as pretty as yours anyway." I giggled and swatted his arm lightly."You think my eyes are pretty?" I looked at him like it was the dumbest thing to ask. And it really was.
"Yes they are! And everything else about you too. I'm sure you know that" I spoke softly in his ear but I guess it wasn't soft enough because he began to rub his ear.
"Thanks Leah. You're beautiful also." I swallowed, opened my mouth to speak but closed it back.
"Troy, actually I want to tell you something. The thing is, I..." I felt some heaviness in my throat and twisting in my stomach but I ignored it. Nothing was going to make me lose this opportunity. "... As I was saying, I like..." the pressure in my throat increased and the next thing that came out of my mouth weren't words but bile and it was running down the front of Troy's shirt.
"Oh fuck" was the last thing I heard before darkness engulfed me.
