Chapter 30

"What?" I ask instantly feeling nervous.
"Well, you won't take this well..."
"What? What??"

"We're moving!"
"Where too?"
"Um... well your dad has a new job and.."
"Please mum just answer the question!"
"Edinburgh."
"B..but that's like 6-7 hours away in the car!"
"I'm sorry Jess..."

"No! I'm not going!"
"Don't be ridiculous!"
"No!" I shout and run into my room crying.

Why do they always have to do this? Everytime I feel really settled somewhere, they decide to move us around. Last few times I protested a little but didn't really mind. But this time, well I can't leave. This is the best town I've ever lived in, the best house. I've made so many memories and met the best people and now they're taking me 6 hours away. Well I'm not having it!

I feel tears seep down my cheeks and I don't even try to stop them. I just let it all out in a huge crying fit.

Why can't I just be happy?
I meet someone I think I'll end up being together with forever and so many things happen to try and separate us. And even though we battle on through it all, as strong as ever, this is the final straw. We'd never be able to keep a relationship so long distance. Why can't I just be in love without any trouble?

I ring Zoe, not being able to bear it. This also means that I'll hardly ever see Zoe and Joe too. She answers.
"Hello?"
"Zoe..."
"Jess? What's wrong?"
"I... oh I can't bare it. I'm moving!"
"But you've moved plenty of.."
"To Edinburgh!! Oh Zoe how could they do this to me?"
"Edinburgh is a beautiful city.."
"Not the point Zoe! What about Max?"
"Jess, if you truly love someone, you'll always feel that, no matter the distance. It won't work to be in a relationship right this minute but you can always come back when you're older and you'll still be just as strong, trust me!"
"Zoe.."
"I know it'll be hard. Just like telling Alfie was hard, but look how that turned out! Speaking of Alfie, Jess the baby is his!"
"What?"
"It's not Sean's, it's Alfie's!"
"Oh Zoe, at least someone has a happy ending!"
"You will, just you wait and see!"
"Ok, thanks Zoe. Love you."
