Chapter 16

The next day, I stay off school. I've been awake half the night with a headache. Nothing much happens. I sit and watch Netflix for most of the day. After school has finished, there's a ring at the doorbell. I go to answer it as mum is shopping with my sister and my dad is at work.
Harvey is at the door.
"Oh hi."
"I just wanted to tell you that Max can't control my life. I made a mistake that I regret but somehow it's all been lead on to you. I don't like to see anyone unhappy. I suppose what I'm trying to say is will you be my friend?"
I hug him.
"Yes!" I whisper in his ear.
He smiles.
"Thank you! I've been so unhappy thinking it's all my fault because now max hates you and you both had like the best relationship!"
"I know, but it was equally my fault. Do you think Miss will let you both swap seats?"
"Maybe, I can always try and ask?"
"That would be great!"
I gesture for him to come in.
"Yeah hold on let me just text my mum and tell her I'm staying here for a bit. You look like you need company!" He says getting out his phone.
We go in and sit down. We spend an hour flicking through Netflix and talking. Then Dad comes home from work.
"Hey kids! It's time for a takeaway!"
"But it's Wednesday, we usually have takeaway on Mondays!" I say.
"Well you were at Max and Harvey's house on Monday and we didn't want to have delicious food without you, though I dare say Mrs Mills is a wonderful cook. And you've been ill so let's have one tonight. Harvey can have some too!"
Oh right! I almost forgot that only two days ago I was still best friends with them, although it feels like a lifetime. At least now I'm friends with Harvey again.
"So it's not Holly's choice seeing as it's her 10th birthday on Friday, so it can be Daisy's choice instead!" Dad says.
Daisy looks incredibly happy. If Holly's birthday hadn't been on Friday, Daisy would have to wait for 2 whole weeks. Now she gets to choose.
"Pizza!" She shrieks and drags Harvey to the drawer with the menus in.
"Pick a pizza Harvey, quick quick quick!"
"Daisy, leave the poor lad alone. At least give him chance to look properly. Take as long as you wish Harvey."
Later
We are walking down the street to go and collect the pizza. As we turn it he corner onto the road, we see max and his friend Luke.
Oh no!
We quickly go to turn around and find a different route but it's too late and they've seen us.
"Harvey what the hell!"
"I'm her friend Max, I'm being reasonable unlike you!"
"Well if I'm not reasonable, it'll be normal to do this!"
Max punches Harvey.
For the SECOND time this week!!!
Like what the actual heck?
This time, I shove in the middle, not caring about getting hurt, and separate them.
"Stop! You are twin brothers for goodness sake! Yes we made a mistake, and yes you have every right to be annoyed at us, but that shouldn't mean you fight like idiots. Look, I don't care if you hate me or anything but just don't fight with your brother. You hate me, he doesn't, therefore he can be my friend and nothing more. Stop fighting!"
Max stops.
He looks at me.
He sits down on the pavement.
He cries.
I sit down next to him.
And I cry too.
He reaches for my hand and I grab hold of his.
"I'm sorry." I say.
"I'm sorry too." He says.
Nothing more needs to be said.
Here's an update for you, I'm kind of enjoying writing at the minute so another chapter might be published tonight, or whatever time it is for you around the world. I told you this chapter would be happier!! Oh and I'm also aware that Zoe and Joe haven't been on for a while so I'll try slot them in. Thanks for the support <3
