Drift ran as fast as he could, skidding across the floor and hurrying to where he had pinpointed the scream. Hina's room, where the door was locked and closed. His holoform summoned all the strength it could before kicking and breaking the lock on her door. Instantly, Drift was in her room, looking around wildly for anything that could pose a threat to his friend.
Hina was sitting up in her bed, her forehead sweating like there was no tomorrow as she heavily breathed in and out. It was like she was completely un-fazed by Drifts entrance.
"Hina, are you are alright?" Drift asked.
Hina continued to breathe in and out as she glanced over at the holoform. It was only then did Drift get a good look at her face. Her eyes were watering as a few tears raced down her cheeks.
"I-I had a n-nightmare." she mumbled.
The Autobot samurai rushed to the bedside of his friend, pulling her into a warm embrace, letting his hands subconsciously travel along the strands of her hair comfortingly, unwilling to let her go, to let her suffer from fear, or feel alone, but more importantly, face anything alone, or without him. "It's alright." He said in a hushed tone, allowing her to cry on his shoulder. "I'm right here, Hina, I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying," he said comfortingly, keeping her closely pressed, afraid to let her go, and see what bad things could've possible occurred if he even considered it. "You are not alone." The samurai whispered gently, hearing a spark wrenching sob from his friend.
Hina sniffled, trying to wipe the tears out of her eyes. "T-thank you Drift-San." She moved her arms up, and hugged him. She felt warm inside. She was terrified at first, but now that Drift was here, she felt she could breathe again. She felt safe.
Drift nodded, trying not to shift her too much, his holoform's breathing slowing, and his own spark calming down, the screams fading with his fear. The only thing left to do was take Hina's fear along with the banished emotions that had just been clawing at his spark. "You're welcome. " he whispered, his grip softening, but not releasing the girl in his arms. He was still too scared to even try letting her go until he was assured that she would be alright.
Nobody else had awoken. They were all asleep, even the Sensei, who has promised Hina's parents that he would protect her. Lately, Drift had taken over that, and at first, although he hadn't leaped to the task with bursting joy, he would've gone through everything he had in a sparkbeat if it meant comforting her right now when she needed it the most.
Hina breathed in land out, calming herself down as less tears streaked down her face and escaped her eyes. "It was horrible Drift. The Decepticons and Traders attacked the dojo, everything was on fire, a-a-and I couldn't transform. I-I-couldn't, I just couldn't help you!"
Drift sighed miserably. He was not the only one haunted by the Traders that night. "Don't you worry little miss, I can hold my own, and I think that your nightmare is partially my fault. Your lack of complete control and my lecture about it being your defense probably rattled you more than you think..." he said sheepishly, feeling guilty about the whole situation. "And you're very capable yourself, Hina. Don't let anyone, or anything tell you otherwise." He said gently, his holoform's heartbeat quickening.
Hina moved away slowly, so she could look at Drift's holoform right in the face, and gave a small smile. "Drift... I don't know what to say."
Drift smiled lightly, but it turned into more of a sly smile when a possible moment of humor came to light. "I do," he said, voice extremely gentle just to be careful. "I'm gonna kick Lockdown's aft from her to tomorrow." He joked, but in all seriousness, was ready and willing to do so.
"I'd pay to see that." Hina chuckled quietly.
Drift considered that for a moment. "Well, I might need someone to help me get my ped out of his aft if something goes wrong," he pondered jokingly, "So, sure, you'd better tag along. I don't think Prime would want to come anyways." He said, shuddering at the thought of Optimus' reaction if he found out that one of his soldiers had endangered a human, one that entrusted their very life to their Autobot guardian no less!
