A Night to Remember II

I haven't thrown a party in a long, long time. I spent the morning sending out invitations to everyone, including Mark. So far I've gotten a yes from everyone, even on short notice. Either I throw really great parties, or nobody had plans for Friday night. I flopped on the couch, relaxing. Two hours. My phone buzzed. It's Mark...I figured that with nothing else to do I may as well have a conversation with him.

My stomach tied itself in knots and I swallowed hard. If she finds out, she's coming. I don't want her here. It can't happen...I tossed my phone, landing it right on the charging pad. I'd let the fucker die if I didn't have to wait for RSVPs. I rubbed my temples...I was looking forward to tonight, but now not so much. It's too late to call everything off...but it might not be too late to make myself scarce. I heard a knock on my door. My downstairs neighbor is coming up to help me make some kind of bullshit food and such. I opened the door to her. "Ari." she said, giving me a hug. "Hi." I replied. "You ready to get cooking?" "I'm a demon, I don't cook...I pull whatever out of thin air." She chuckled. "That's no fun though." I followed her into the kitchen and took a seat on the counter. I checked out the sky. All clear, bright and blue...probably hot as hell out there. "Enjoy that while it lasts, buddy. It's supposed to storm tonight." "So I guess we'll be moving the festivities indoors." I replied. "Fine by me." "So cooking or cleaning? Which first?" I smirked and snapped my fingers. "Everything is clean." I replied. "So cooking." she said. "Fine by me." "Let me know if there's anything I can do to help." I said, disappearing, fully knowing she never wants help with cooking. I tried to look forward to things, but the knots in my stomach kept coming back. I picked up the cat and stroked her gently. "Ready for tonight?" I asked her.

Things took off right away. It took awhile, but eventually, I stopped worrying about (y/n) coming over and started pounding drinks along with everyone else. Just when I started having a good time, I noticed the front door creak open. I waited to see who it was, to my knowledge, everyone who was invited and coming was here. When I saw (y/n)'s face, my stomach dropped. I quickly exited to the balcony for a cigarette. Hopefully, she'd scan the room, not see me, and fuck off. Thunder rolled in the distance and the wind picked up. I pressed myself against the wall and made myself as small as possible. Just as I was about to go back inside and declare a huge victory, I saw (y/n) step outside, drink in one hand, cellphone in the other. I hoped she wouldn't look over at me, but of course, she did. FUCK. We stared at each other for a few moments before she walked to me slowly. I tried finding words, but none came. "I was looking for you." she said. "Here I am." I replied, conjuring up a strong drink.  If anyone out there needs one right now, it's me. "What are you doing here, (y/n)?" "Making things right." she replied, stirring her drink. I drank mine quickly. "You're swaying...I'm pretty sure one more of those is going to send you to the hospital. Quit drinking your feelings." "This is my place. I'll do what I see fit."  I pushed off from the wall and leaned over the balcony, watching the storm blow in. I lit a cigarette hastily. "You love storms." she said. "Shut. Up." I heard her walking behind me. "Go, (y/n). There is a reason I did not invite you over." "I don't want to live forever without you." "Clearly, you do." I replied. I saw her reaching for me, and I growled. "Don't." She touched my shoulder gently. Rage. She crossed the line. I grabbed her by the wrist, and punched her just hard enough to send her into a daze. Finally. She punched me a countless amount of times...felt good to get revenge. Being a person who refuses to quit, she punched back. I felt something warm trickle out of my nose and onto my lips. I wiped it away, and we started fighting. For a human, she wasn't all that weak, but being a demon, I had the upper hand. I grabbed her by her throat and held her over the edge of the balcony. She clawed at me frantically. "I feel like I don't know you anymore, but...I totally remember you're terrified of heights." "Dark, you're drunk. Come back to reality." I tuned her out. "Give me one good reason I shouldn't drop you. I know you'll live, but your life will be dynamically different." She looked at me desperately. "It's your decision...but the real Dark doesn't make innocent people suffer." Hearing that made me feel like I'd taken a stun gun to the chest. I pulled her over the balcony slowly and let her go. For a moment she just stared at me, and I at her. I have no idea why, but...we kissed. Not just a peck on the lips either...we full blown made out. She pulled at my clothes, and I pulled at hers. The clouds overhead broke and drenched us in cold rain. I broke the kiss, leaving a single, thin strand of saliva between the two of us. My mind raced, but I decided to put it to sleep and go with it. "Come on." I said quietly, heading for the stairs. I'd rather drunkenly stumble up the stairs and enter my room through its private balcony than try to sneak through the party guests and be asked a billion questions. She followed me up and we stumbled into my room. I struggled with my shirt until she finally pulled it off over my head. For a moment we stood and stared at each other again. I had so many questions...so many thoughts, so much on my mind, but nothing at the same time. My powers give me the ability to make and do most anything I want. I can have nothing in my wallet and still be the wealthiest being alive. I can travel across the universe in a heartbeat. I can turn into an animal. I'm pretty fucking amazing. If I can do all of that, I can do something with (y/n).
