Chapter One·When I find Him

(Thomas Jefferson POV)

It was hard. Hard knowing someone you knew and loved caused something as extreme as this. He didn't know what he was doing. At least that's what I'd like to believe.

"Thomas? You alright?" I heard my best friend ask from behind. We were a group full of survivors. Let me tell you the story,

A few months ago, a man by the name of Alexander Hamilton was experimenting. He wanted to test how a human would react to him experiment so he used a kid named Samuel Seabury who couldn't say no to anyone.

Alexander was a smart man. Always got straight A's but he never thought this would come from that one experiment. Seabury seemed fine when he didn't show any change in mood or behavior. A few days later word spread that Seabury had infected a few people. A few soon became ten. Ten became a hundred. A hundred became a thousand and so on.

My father-who was also a scientist-was building a zombie cure-inator. He needed to finish what Alexander started but before he could finish, his life was taken. Alexander wanted to know how and why Seabury reacted the way he did but he knew it would kill him. He stayed indoors but once a zombie git to him, it was all over.

Now here we are. A small group of survivors with the power to survive. The group consisted of James, Lafayette, Hercules, John, George, Freddy(King), Peggy, Eliza, Angelica, Maria, Aaron and of course, me.

I wanted to help everyone. Everyone had their own sets of skills. Freddy had access to guns and weapons, Lafayette, Hercules, and John were in a war at some point, George led that war, the Schuyler sisters were smart as hell and knew what can go wrong and when, Maria was a badass and James was immune.

James was apart of another experiment done by my father year ago. He was immune to almost everything and yet he still got sick.

"Thomas, come downstairs. We need to find out who can go out to find more food or survivors." I heard Maria say. We found our way to Monticello so we could survive. Most of my servants were dead or in hiding.

I nodded and followed the girl with blood stains on her clothes. She wore a grey sweater and black pants. When we made it downstairs I noticed the lights began flickering. "We also need to find a way to fix the power. We have enough candles and flashlights but I don't want to risk anything," Maria nodded as we both sat down in the small circle.

"So here's who went out last time," Freddy then pulled out a board before he continued, "Aaron, Angelica. Your off the hook." A flash of relief could be seen on their faces. "Maria...off the hook. You have too many injuries to be going out." Maria scowled at him, "But I am perfectly capable-" "No. James, George, you two are sick. That means Herc and I have to stay and take care of them...Laf, we need you to fix the power so your out for food. So that leaves, John, Thomas, and Peggy." I nodded. I went put the most. "Wait- Thomas has been out-" "No. I'm not staying here. I know Virginia like the back of my hand. I can lead them to possible places to loot." Freddy sighed and wrote us down for this week.

"Good luck you guys."

I grabbed my shotgun and my knives as John seemed a bit worried. "Thomas..-" "No, John. Please, let me help you with this." He looked at me and shook his head. "I don't want you to die!" He quietly yelled to me. "I won't. I have you and Peggy here to help me." "Uh guys! We should head out soon. The sun will be setting in one to two hours," Peggy called out as I nodded and followed her out the door as John followed behind me.

The warm Virginia air filled my nose as we walked through the empty streets. We had build a base around this street. We couldn't risk anything. We opened the door and nodded. The front was deserted so we quickly slipped through the door. We made sure to close it before.

I noticed a few zombies. "Guys," I whispered and nodded to the zombies as they knew what I was saying. We slowly crept through the streets. Seeing all these Zombies I couldn't help but realize who they were. Faces I saw every day before the apocalypse. Faces that smiled at me and I smiled back.

I sighed and looked behind me to see a zombie creeping up on John. I moved John out of the way and pulled my knife on the zombie which caused us to get noticed by the other zombies. "Shit!" I yelled as we began running towards the nearest house. It was two story house. I closed the door but they were coming at us fast. I started shooting a feel zombies as I could feel one scratch me deep. "Fuck-!" I yelled as Peggy began shooting. John was trying to barricade the door but that wasn't doing much. "Go upstairs!" He said and grabbed his guns. Peggy and I stayed at the top as she pulled out the bandages and wrapped them around my scratch. Suddenly the shooting stopped and I grew worried. "John?" I yelled as Peggy slowly opened the door.

John stood there frozen as a zombie stood in front of him. Long brown hair...light brown eyes...I was frozen in fear and shock. He looked behind John and smiled at me. "Hey, Tommy." He said as Peggy shook her head.

    "No..." "It can't be.."

That damn smile. That fucking smile.

"Alexander?..." I asked as he nodded.

"I'm back baby." He said as John continued shooting at the other zombies. He began walking up to Peggy and I but she stopped him. "I don't believe it..." "Pegleg. I know more than ever. My studies truly are amazing. This just isn't the best way for me to see and explain it. "Please..." I groaned in pain as the blood started bleeding through a bit. "Y-You guys can't go home. It's already dark. I have a place.." He said and led us through the zombies. His scent his us. Peggy was protected because she had been around the most zombies.

"Alex, where are we going?" I asked him. I saw a small house cut off from everything else. It was at the edge of a lake. "Here.." He passed more gauze to Peggy and handed John a can of food as he began to start a fire. I took in Alexander's appearance. He was missing an eye, his body was covered in blood, yet he still had the same brains as before.

"Alex...how long have you been one?" He looked at me with a shocked expression as the fire started up and illuminated half his face. "What?..." He asked and I felt bad for asking. "I'm sorry I just-" "N-No It's fine...Its been a few months...Almost five at this point. After Samuel...everything went to hell," he explained to me. "Tomorrow you're coming back with us-" "What? Thomas!" John yelled. "Alex is smart. He can control his needs. I know he can..." I told him. He sighed. "If he does anything to James I-" "James is fucking immune!" I told him. He shook his head, "yeah i know but still...doesn't mean he can't get hurt. Poor guy is sick..." "Again? Damn, he was sick every single day back in the office." Alexander told us as John began cooking the soup.

"...Aaron is gonna be freaking out-" "let him freak out. It's Aaron. Of you explain- Wait! I have an idea! Okay, first, take away all the guns from everyone in that group. I'm gonna scare the shit out of Aaron." Alex smirked at us. "That is truly Alexander Hamilton."

"Fuck off Jefferson."

"Yep. Same Hamilton."
