Chapter Eight·When You Rise PT.2
(Lafayette POV)
Thomas took Angelica and Eliza. Washington's sickness has gotten worse. "George?" I asked my lover. He looked up at me and smiled sadly.
"George are you sure you’re up for this?" I asked and held onto his hand tightly. He started coughing. "Actually I don’t think I am. I’ll only slow you down." He told me as I looked at Aaron and Freddy. "But how are you going to lead the assault?" I asked laughing nervously. "I'm not. She is." He looked behind us as the door opened to reveal Maria with all her weapons. "Now it’s time to rise up or it’s time to stand down and the answer is easy to see." She pulled out her sword which reflected off the light.
"And I swear by the sword If you’re in, get on board. Are you ready?" She asked us and looked between us. "I’m ready!" "We’re ready!" "We’re ready!" We all yelled as I quietly heard Maria mumble under her breath.
She pulled out a map as James helped nurse George. "He's giving out but he'll make it." He told us, me specifically. I quickly gave George a broken smile before focusing back on Maria. "I found that in Alexander's journal, the machine would run on the light of a full moon, so it's most likely that its in a tall building above everything. Something that has a view of everything-" "The Clock Tower!" Freddy yelled and marked it on the map.
"Peggy told me that they stayed in a small house that should be.." He marked another point, "here. If we can make it to the clock tower before Thomas gets to them." Maria nodded and marked out the plan. "Aaron, you have to be a distraction. He needs three people so he would try to make you the third. Freddy, you can help set everyone free. Laf...You and me have to take Thomas out." I froze and looked at her wide eyed.
"But-" "No. He's insane. It's either that or he gets away with this. I'd risk my life for Eliza and Angelica. I truly care about them." Everyone grabbed a weapon and we headed out but I got one last look at George, "Ready as I'll ever be..."
