Once the soldier had gotten into some new clothes from the bank, the two set out into the streets. They were crowded with people, many speaking about the incident that had just happened at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. it was all white noise to Alena. She hated the amount of people walking past, all on their phones while their voices boomed out of their mouths into the air. It hurt her brain to hear them all, to concentrate on one thing was hard enough after that blast from the past. Thinking about it made her heart sink, so she chose not to. Looking up to the soldier's concentrated face as he held her hand, she wondered, had she ever called him by his actual name? Did he even have one? In reality she knew very little about the man and yet he seemed so determined to keep her with him. She was grateful but also confused. No one had ever given her the care and comfort that he had. Not even a simple smile and yet this strange man did so.

"Why are you doing this?" She blatantly asked. Conversations wasn't her strong suit.

"Huh?" he replied. Just under his breath almost pretending as if he had never spoken.

"Why didn't you just leave like everybody else?"

"I did leave, with you" He said while they weaved their way through people. The crowd was suddenly getting thicker and thicker.

"No!" she yelled in frustration. "I mean, why... why did you take me? You could hav-" She stopped as the man was clearly not listening. Grabbing a newspaper the soldier flipped through the pages, scanning it like it was his life line. Alena scowled at him. She thought of all people he would be the one to give her answers, and yet now it seems as if the daily horoscopes were more important. Crumpling it up he grabbed her hand once again and they were off.

"Where are we going? What are we doing?" she kept asking and all the while the soldier still kept a death grip on her palm. The crowds around them got thicker and thicker and suddenly Alena felt more claustrophobic. She had never been around this many people before. Tt didn't help that she was being dragged through everything. Even after the fall of hydra this soldier was still bringing her everywhere, whether she liked it or not. She was sick of it. Being in the free world while also not being very free at all sucked and she wanted him to know it.

"Why can't i make decisions for myself!?" She finally yelled dramatically. The crowd seemed to thin as they were getting past everyone. As they got to the clearing the soldier looked at Alena dead in the eye, and signaled for her to be silent. He wasn't calm anymore, his expression was just like when they went on missions, when danger was nearby. In front of them stood countless FBI guards randomly searching people. Their excuse was just some routine drill, however the two fugitives knew they were really only looking for hydra agents. As there seemed to be no non-suspicious way out of it, the two of them acted as normal as possible. Going along with the guards' orders. Alena didn't like them. they looked way too similar to her handlers back at base. The ones that forced her into that chair and made her mind a mixing bowl. She squinted as a tear ran down her face. Now was not the time for old memories and yet they came anyway. With every blink, at one moment she was in the middle of the street, the next locked away in her cell full of letters. The soldier noticed this and soon became tense. Having an idea of what normal was supposed to be and knowing that Alena didn't relate to any of the definitions. He just didn't have the heart to tell her so.

Still squinting and shaking her head, Alena did get the attention of one guard. He was young and as he approached her from behind he really didn't mean any ill harm. Like any human being he just saw a child in distress and wanted to help. The visions in Alena's head however were getting worse as each second passed.

"She's a maximoff isn't she?" she recognised the voice

The roaring of the crowd was too loud, sending ringing through her ears.

"Yes sir, her siblings are proving well in Strucker's own experiments so-"

"So she'll be strong enough to take the wiping?" the voice was Alexander Pierce's.

"Affirmative however the pain will be-"

"Good, then let's get started. Call the handlers would you?" Just then a hand was placed firmly on Alena's shoulder. She screamed and purley out of instinct elbowed the man in the stomach, pinned him down and soon enough- SNAP

"Alena!" it was Barnes's voice. She wasn't at hydra, she was in the middle of a crowd and underneath her was a young man's body. All of his features were fine except one little thing. His neck was turning a bright purple as it was snapped completely in half. The girl's eyes widened at what she had really done. Looking around she saw the shock and horror in everyone's face. Her heart pounded and it felt like her lungs didn't even exist. She didn't want to be there anymore, she wanted to be back with her letters, and the shield. Back where she was meant to be this way, no matter how miserable that really was.

"This is why" The soldier said, grabbing her hand as the two of them darted out of the scene. Horrified screams still hung in the background as Alena's footsteps pounded against the concrete. Her body didn't feel like her own as every limb was in shock. They felt heavy and weighted yet she still ran. Police sirens started going off in the background burning themselves into Alena's ears. The soldier helped her as they climbed up the fire escape of an apartment building. One foot after the other eventually they reached the top, booking it to the next skyscraper after it. Eventually it all became just one big blur. running and jumping and running and jumping until the police sirens became distant and the two of them had gotten away safely.
