Prompt: Prompt of why and when Beckett's yoyo go banned

-------------------------------------------

Beckett Townsend spun his yoyo into his hand in boredom. Class hadn't started yet, but the teacher was already yelling at some girl for forgetting her textbook.

Beckett tightened his grip on his yoyo. He'd love to use it to break that teacher's nose.

But then he pictured his parents' faces as they desperately tried to keep Emmett's friends' parents from pressing charges.

He took a deep breath and continued spinning the toy in and out of his hand, a calming gesture. He couldn't attack a teacher. He'd get in so much trouble. His parents would be so upset with him.

Something hit him in the back of the head and he winced. He glared over his shoulder at the boy and girl giggling behind him.

"Careful Kristen, if you make him mad, he'll hurt you," the boy said. "Nick said he's like the Hulk. Ugly and mean."

Kristen laughed a little harder. "You're the one who's gonna make him mad if you keep telling him how ugly and mean he is, David."

She picked up a quarter and chucked it at Beckett's head. It hit him in the cheek and he winced, glaring harder.

"Fuck off and leave me alone," he said angrily, grip tightening on his yoyo. He wasn't ugly and mean. He was just...he was just...

He was angry. He was just angry.

He felt his temper rising, so consuming it drowned him with the force of it. He was angry his parents put so much pressure on him, and that his brother was so mean to him, and that he was a stupid Maroon now, and that everyone liked to pick on him.

"No one will ever be your friend," David taunted. "They're all scared of you. Ugly Hulk."

                "Shut up," Beckett snapped.

He'd never been good at making friends. But he didn't want to be friends with people like this anyways. It was all so stupid.

Kristen whipped two more quarters at his head. Beckett shut his eyes as they hit them, and when he opened his eyes, Kristen's hand was in the air.

"Mr. Nichols, Beckett stole my money," she said.

Mr. Nichols spun around to glare at Beckett. "Oh, you're a thief now, too, Townsend?"

"She threw it at me!" Beckett said.

"No she didn't. He took it and called her ugly," David said.

"They're lying," Beckett said, temper about to boil over. Why did they always have to pick on him?

"That'll be two detentions for you, Beckett," Mr. Nichols said.

"Why? I didn't do anything wrong," Beckett said, his grip so tight on the yoyo that it hurt.

                "Stealing is bad," Kristen said.

"So is lying, you ugly-ass bitch," Beckett said, his temper escaping and his yoyo flinging from his hand before he could stop himself. It hit Kristen so hard that she let out a cry of pain, tears welling in her eyes as she stumbled away from Beckett.
