We arrived at the odd looking house. Link looked at the note and quickly handed it to the old man. He looked it over and grumbled. "Guess I have to do what the old coot says." He said and sighed. "Oasis paradise?" He asked opening up the hatch. "Hop in." Link and I slowly went in and the hatch was shut. I grabbed onto Link tightly as it began to move. "What the hell is—" we were shot out of a cannon and to the desert screaming. I landed in a pile of sand, although everywhere was sand. I groaned and slowly sat up, looking around confused. "(Y/n)?" Link called out from behind me. "Here." I groaned holding up my hand.Link walked over to me and grabbed my hand. He pulled me up with a sigh, the sun beginning to set. "Wow, it's actually barren." He said. "Look!" I said pointing to pillars in the distance. "That's where we're headed." He said firmly. "But first, a fire. We camp out here tonight."
As soon as they started the fire Link suggested he take the first night watch. Grateful (Y/n) laid down and swiftly went to sleep. Link smiled at (Y/n) in the light of the fire. "You're so beautiful." Link murmured. "I wish I could tell you how I feel." He said quietly. Midna slowly formed from Link's shadow. "You love her, Huh?" She asked quietly looking at Link. "What about Ilia?" Link smiled at Midna and stared at (Y/n)'s peaceful form. "Well, I guess I did like Ilia but not like (Y/n). Whenever we touch I have an overwhelming feeling of trust. I know that she'll do anything for me. I'll do everything and so much more for her." Midna grimaced and stared at Link with concern in her eyes. She snapped and Link's eyes saw (Y/n) for who she really was.
Link scrambled to get away, seeing her aqua skin and the robe that Zant wore. "Is she Zant's wife?!" He asked as the vision slipped away. "No, not at all. Zant never tried to court her." Link panted, his heart racing. "What do you mean by that?" Link snapped and Midna hushed him. "Let me tell you a story first, before you flip your shit." She snapped
"Do you remember what the spirit said about the fused shadows? What do you think happened to the magic wielders who tried to rule the sacred realm?" Midna asked Link softly. "They were banished. They were chased across the sacred lands of Hyrule and driven into another realm by the goddesses." Midna said sourly. "It was another world entirely, the antithesis of Hyrule where the sun shines bright. It's denizens become shadows that could not mingle with the light. Eventually most came to call it the Twilight Realm, and from it, none could return to the world of light. They were forever doomed to live in the twilight fitting, in the half-light of dusk, mere shadows of Hyrule. This is the history of the twilight as it has been passed down from our ancestors. Do you now understand what I am? I'm a descendent of the tribe that was banished to the twilight realm!" She snarls angrily.
"It was a peaceful place until Zant took control the Twilight Realm and transform all of the twilight into shadow beasts. It's clear to me now that he somehow gained a great evil power previously unknown to our tribe. In any case, I was sent from there, and could no longer get into the Twilight Realm without his power. But there's another tale told by my people. So the goddesses forbade us to return to the world of light they left one link between the light and the darkness. Something called the mirror of twilight was passed to the protectors of Hyrule. It's our only path to the twilight realm and we must get there. You'll come with me, won't you?" She asked softly, taking Link's hands. "You'll help (Y/n) and I? She was Zant's best friend."
Midna whispered as Link soaked in all the information. "I... What?" He asked staring at (Y/n). "(Y/n) is a Twili. She's like me. But Zant valued her so much, as you can see he let her be. Her pendant? That's a charm that'll keep her safe." She said quickly. "What did you mean by he never court her? Are you saying he would've?" Link asked Midna looking at (Y/n) with concern in his eyes.
"No, Zant couldn't have. They were so close, he had something about him too. He just couldn't love like that. Romantically, anyway." Link stared at (Y/n). "When do you think she'll know?" He asked quietly. Midna sighed and shook her head. "It's impossible to know for sure, but I'm pretty sure when Zant is defeated. She'll have to deal his ending blow." Link's eyes widened as he looked at Midna. "She has to kill her own best friend... to... to retrieve her memories?" He croaked out. Midna nodded slowly. "Yeah." She said softly. "Yes she does."
