As soon as I entered I saw him. He sat upon his throne silently staring at us. Midna appeared beside Link, bearing her teeth at him. "Zant," she spat angrily. My anger began to bubble up as well. "Isn't this ironic? Here we are, all thanks to the dark magic curse you placed on Link and (Y/n)." She sneered as Zant straightened up in his throne. I clenched my jaw as he began to speak.
"You speak of magic? Still your tongue for a moment, whelp, and I will tell you of both magic and the oppression of ages. The people of our tribe, a tribe that mastered the arts of magic were locked away in this world like insects in a cage. In the shadows we regressed, so much that we soon knew neither anger nor hatred, nor even the faintest bloom of desire. And all of it was the fault of a useless, do-nothing royal family that had resigned itself to this miserable half-existence! I had served and endured in that depraved household for far too long, my impudent princess. And why you ask? Because I believed I would be the next to rule out people? That is why! But would they acknowledge me as their king? No! And as such, I was denied the magic powers befitting our ruler. It was then, in the thrall of hatred and despair, that I turned my eyes to the heavens... and I found a god. My god only had one wish, to merge shadow and light and create darkness. Yet, there was something I couldn't break free of. Not even my own god could stop me from the last bit of free will I had. I made a promise to someone, and broke it. It is time for me to have my sins forgiven."
I growled and stepped forward, sword in hand. "Midna will never forgive you!" I snarled, throwing myself in between them. "Keeping her safe by turning her into a lesser form of herself? Pathetic!" I snarled, his stupid mask bore into my eyes. "Link and I will defeat you, once and for all. This community will be freed, and you will be begging for forgiveness to Hylia for the rest of eternity. I have walked into this hell you created for innocent people, and I plan on taking your fucking head as a trophy." Zant stiffened at my words. He raised his hand in the air and snapped. Within moments Link and Midna were thrown clear across the room. Barriers formed between Zant and I. For a moment my bravery wavered, but then I faced my ultimate enemy.
"Your declaration was quite the mouthful. If you want to make such daring statements, let's battle. One on one, to the death (Y/n)." Zant said solemnly. I straightened up in fear, then immediately went back down into a defensive position. The air stilled as Zant just stood there. Why was he just standing there? "Are you going to fight me, or are we just going to have a staring contest?" Zant asked, cocking his head. Anger coursed through my body as I ran to attack him. "This is for all you manipulated!" I swung with all my force, and Zant teleported away laughing. "Manipulated? They needed to follow me! I was their only hope in this forsaken world!"
I turned and rushed after him again, dropping into a roll to get him from behind. Again, he teleported away. "All the innocent who were corrupted to attack against their will. Who died at mine and Link's hands." I called out, anger boiling over. Hot tears spilled down my face, my pendant growing as hot as my face. "You made the choice to follow someone who only cares about themselves! Your god doesn't care about you or the sacrifices you made." Where did that come from? I ran at Zant once again, swinging only for him to teleport behind me. I used my momentum to keep swinging but to no avail.
My sword stopped mid air as I tried to swing again. "You wouldn't understand, (Y/n)." A chill went up my spine as Zant pressed his mask into the back of my head. "You couldn't understand. After all, who do you think took your memories?" As fast as he was behind me, again he vanished.
"What?" I breathed, looking around to find him. "What do you know about my memories?" Zane's cackle echoed around me. "You had a wonderful family! A mother, a father, and three siblings! You grew up just past the Forbidden Forest. You were on your merry way to Castle Town when I stopped you. You fought hard, and I commended you for that. I allowed you to live, but I took you." I began blinking furiously as the tears rolled down faster. "What?" I heard my voice audibly crack. "It was me, all along! I took your precious memories." Zant sneerer, I clutched my sword harder shaking. "I was the one who left you clueless. I left you by Orodon with nothing but the clothes on your back. It was me, I tore you away from everything you ever loved. Now look at you. Pathetic. Where did you go wrong?" Zant's laugh grew louder, and my anger had finally reached its overflow.
