Chapter 5...The Wheels on the Van(Dawson's P.O.V.)
The car ride down to Florida was a little crowded. Danielle sat in the back with the kids and Damien sat up front with me taking turns at the wheel. We had driven all night, and just crossed the Mason-Dixon Line when the kids started to get fussy. And when I say the kids were getting fussy, Damien was included. Damien had recently just turned twenty-four, but he still had his moments when he acted like he was four.
We decided it was best if we pulled off somewhere and get something to eat before we traveled anymore. Danielle had to take Ross to the bathroom to change him, because he started crying as we walked in the restaurant. And don't think I didn't notice Damien looking at Danielle's butt as she walked in front of us because I did. Although the only reason I noticed was because I was staring as well.
"Daddy, can I get chocolate chip pancakes?" Hudson asked with bright eyes.
"I want fruit loops!" Shane shouted.
"Shane they don't have fruit loops," I laughed. He just pouted and sat in the corner. It was really cute.
"Daddy, I have to use the potty," Sadie cried pulling on my shirt. I was being pulled in five million different directions.
"Come here pretty girl," Damien stated holding his hands out to Sadie. I was surprised when she went to him.
"Damien, are you sure you can handle her?" I asked very worried. I mean this was the first time he has actually trying to be an uncle. It was very mature of him, and that confused me.
"Dawson, ye of little faith," Damien laughed and took Sadie to the bathroom.
Breakfast was enjoyable, but what made me happy was the way Damien was trying to be a grown up. Maybe this trip was going to be better than I thought it was. When we got back in the car, the children's sing-a-long CD started playing. I hated listening to this thing not because I hated the music, but because the songs always got stuck in my head. Right now Sadie and Danielle were singing some song that had to do with love and sandwiches.
"This music will brainwash you," Damien laughed looking down at the radio. I just laughed because sometimes it felt like that. "Am I wrong?"
"No, that's the sad thing," I laughed as we continued down the interstate.
"I just don't see what all the hype is about the mouse," Damien sneered. "Though I will give it to him he's the world's biggest hustler. He knows how to make a buck outta nothing."
"Amen to that one," I agreed. "I mean here we are driving who knows how long just to see a fantasy world made of fictional characters, spending who knows how much money."
"But remember its for the kids," Damien laughed. If I weren't driving I would have punched him.
Later on in our trip everyone was asleep. I was basically all by myself. Damien was conked out in the passenger seat. Hudson was asleep with his pillow against the window, and the twins were asleep leaning on both sides of Danielle. I sneak a peek at Danielle's face and she is gorgeous. I mean I kind of got excited just looking at her.
"You know if you took a picture it would last longer," Danielle stated slowly waking up.
"Nah I think I'd rather stare at the real thing," I teased as I drove. Danielle just blushed. Which lead to her one in a million smile.
"Daddy, are we there yet?" Hudson sighed as he looked at me groggily.
"Not quite yet baby," Danielle stated as she patted his head.
