Chapter 22...Sick Days
(Danielle's P.O.V.)
Two weeks after thanksgiving Suzie came down to my room one day after school. She was smiling from ear to ear. I had no clue what was up, but I knew she was definitely going fill me in.
"Danielle you'll never guess what Hank did last night!" She cheered. She was acting like a little school girl. I didn't know what had gotten into her. Hank was her boyfriend of six years.
"What did he do?" I asked smiling. That's when she threw up her hand. That's right Suzie was wearing a huge engagement ring.
"He proposed and I said yes!" She squealed.
"Suzie I'm so happy for you!" I laughed. I truly was she deserved someone that loved her and made her happy.
"What is all the commotion about?" Victoria said coming from the hallway. Her baby bump was slightly showing under her cardigan.
"Suzie got engaged!" I shouted.
"Oh My God! That's Awesome!" Victoria cheered.
"You people are weird," Hudson stated then just went back to doing his homework. I just rolled my eyes. He was still in the girls had coodies stage.
Suzie spent the next hour and a half telling us how Hank proposed, so I texted Dawson and told him to pick up the babies from preschool.
When Hudson and I finally got home Dawson had supper already prepared. He was being so kind. I had the greatest husband in the world.
"Thanks Hun for making supper," I stated as I ate some of the chicken.
"My pleasure," he stated giving Ross some of the macaroni. We were so proud of Ross he had graduated to solid foods. He even had two teeth in his smile now.
After supper, I told Dawson he could either do the dishes or do bath time. He chose the dishes, because I told him bath time did not involve me. All my little ducks were very fast to get cleaned up. They seemed to be tired from their long day.
"Mommy will you read me a story?" Sadie begged after I had brushed her hair.
"Sure, Baby," I stated then I grabbed the book on her night stand. Halfway through the book she was out, so I tiptoed out of her room.
When I got to my bedroom I found Dawson already asleep. How's that for romance? Hey it's not all flowers and pretty love songs. Sometimes it's snoring and old sweat pants. I just changed then climbed in beside him.

I heard Danielle get up during the middle of the night. I got up to check on her. She had the bathroom door closed.
"Danielle are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah, one of the kids at school yesterday was running a fever. He went home earlier, but I must have caught it from being around him," she sighed coming out of the restroom. Then throwing cold water on her face.
"I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do?" I asked groggily.
"Nah, this too shall pass," she stated.
It didn't she was sick for the next three days. I felt sorry for her, but she wouldn't go to the doctor. She said that it was just a cold, and she would get over it. So I left her at home, and took the kids and dropped them off. She could be so stubborn. If she wasn't better by tomorrow I would carry her there myself.

I was starting to feel better, but just kept cramping. I automatically just assumed on top of the bug it was that time of the month. I decided since I was feeling somewhat better I would try to do something productive. So I cleaned and reorganized our bathroom.
I was cleaning out the drawers when I came across a pregnancy test. I laughed at the time I took one of these when I was pregnant with Shane and Sadie. And then the time with Ross. I used to buy these in bulk because I had so many scares over the years. It was just I didn't have the best reputation for remembering my birth control.
The first time I got pregnant though I blame that on Dawson. But Ross well he was my fault. I wouldn't say fault, but you get my point.
I put the test back in the draw and continued to clean. The bathroom didn't satisfy me, so I went on to clean the kitchen. By lunch I had cleaned the whole house. I went back to our bathroom, and I realized I had forgot to close the draw that contained the pregnancy test.
I looked down at it, and I felt like it was just mocking me. I slammed the draw shut, and decided to read some of my book.
As I opened the book to read I came across the part where the Indian had the cowboy's baby. Aggravated I shut the book.
"Just take the stupid test. It will say negative, and then you can put your mind to rest," I said aloud to myself.
So I did.

I came home for lunch, and brought Danielle some of her favorite Chinese food home. She had text me earlier, and told me she was feeling better.
"Danielle I'm home, and I brought lunch," I shouted.
"I'll be there in a minute, I'm in the bathroom," she shouted back.
And two minutes later there she was. She even looked better. I'm glad she was feeling better. I hated seeing her sick.
"You got Chinese?" She asked smiling from ear to ear.
"Isn't that your favorite?" I asked. "I remember you loved this stuff."
"Yeah but that's when I was pregnant with Ross," she blurted.
"So you don't like Chinese food?" I questioned. She was confusing me.
"No I do!" She smiled.
"I think you have cabin fever. You need to be reintroduced to civilization," I laughed kissing her forehead. There wasn't any fever.
After lunch I had to get back to work, but told Danielle I would pick up the kids later. I wanted her to rest and relax. She deserved it.
When I got back to the hospital, they asked me if I could fill in the E.R. I told them of course. I laughed as I remembered this was where I met Danielle. I even passed the closet that we fell out of when we had our first fight. That was the first time she called me an egotistical pig. Every now and then she calls me that again, but it's only when she's really mad.
I reached my first patient's door, and looked over their chart. Seemed they needed a cast. Someone had broken their arm jumping out of a swing. When will kids learn you they can not fly like superman?
I opened the door.
"Hi there, I'm Dr. Conn, now what brings you in today Jenny?" I asked her as she looked up at me. The little blonde girl looked about eight years old.
"I jumped out of a swing because I wanted to fly like a bird," she sighed. "They looked so peaceful just flying around."
"Well, people can't fly, that's why you came crashing back down to the ground. Jenny we're going to have to out your arm into a cast," I reassured her. "Can you be a big girl for me and cooperate?"
"Yes Sir," she sighed and then I got things started.
