Chapter 14...Uncle Damien
(Danielle's P.O.V.)
I felt a whole lot better after I took a nice, long, hot bath. All the kids were asleep in the den on a blow up mattress with Damien. So I walking back to the bedrooms, when I ran into Dawson.
"Sorry," I giggled. He just wrapped his arms around me queezing me
"Mmm you're all mud free now," he moaned in my ear. I just laughed pulling him into the bedroom.
"Danielle, we'll wake everyone up," Dawson laughed. I just kissed him again.
"Make me a promise," I sighed as I broke for air.
"Anything, Baby," Dawson rasped.
"Promise me that we'll never fight again," I sighed laying my head on his chest. "Or at least promise me you won't give up on me no matter how crazy I act."
"Baby, I've never letting you out of my arms again. I love you're crazy," he sighed kissing my forehead. Then we fell asleep in each other's arms.
(Dawson's P.O.V.)
It seemed everyone slept in the following day. I looked at the clock and it read one o'clock. Surely by now we would have been awakened by the little ones.
I crept into the kitchen to find no one. The blow up mattress was put away, and there was a note left on the counter.
Dawson and Danielle,
We all thought you might need some alone time. Don't worry, the kids are in good hands. A.K.A. Grandma and Grandpa. We'll see you when you get back. Don't rush home the cabin is rented for the week.
Love,
DamienI couldn't believe this. We had the whole cabin to ourselves, for an entire week. I ran back to the bedroom like a kid on Christmas morning.
(Damien's P.O.V.)
I am actually starting to dig this Uncle thing. While Dawson and Danielle were having their "alone" time. I was basically the built in babysitter. I watched the kids when Mom had run errands, and when dad was a work.
I come to find that there a benefits to being an uncle. I can fill them full of sugar and then let Mom handle them when she gets home. I also get mini workouts chasing after them in the backyard or at the park.
Speaking of the park, I took them to the park one day, and I even got this chicks number. She seemed really nice. She said she spent a lot of time with her Baby sister at the park. She loved that I was good with kids, I think. I mean I've always been told that chicks dig that kind of thing. It makes mean look desirable or something. Who knows.
But another day we went to the movies, and I didn't even complain that it was a kids movie. Come to think of it, the movie was actually pretty funny. It reminded me of the days that I got up super early to watch cartoons. Those were the days.
I even helped Sadie bake cupcakes and cookies. Yeah, I can bake stuff. But we decorated each other's faces with icing. What? You gotta let the kids imagination run wild, plus it called for cute Facebook pictures that I could post later. I would definitely score some Candy points then.
"Uncle Damien you're so silly!" Sadie squealed as she cover the cookie with sprinkles.
"Not as silly as you, Princess," I stated kissing her forehead, it tasted like cream cheese.
"I love you Uncle Damien," Sadie stated kissing my cheek. "Yum, chocolate!"
I know that she was just saying she loved me because she was a three year old but still the fact remained the same. Sadie told me she loved me. Maybe I wasn't so bad at the uncle thing after all. Maybe I actually had a chance of doing something right.
(Danielle's P.O.V.)
Today Dawson and I were headed home. And honestly a little tiny part of me didn't want to, but I knew I couldn't leave my kids with Olivia forever. Plus I wanted to see my baby. It had felt like forever since I'd held him last.
"Are you ready to go home?" Dawson asked as we waited for our flight.
"Yes and no. You?" I asked smiling.
"I'm just ready for us all to be together again. I actually really miss our little munchkins," he sighed grabbing my hand.
We waited as planes landed and took off until our flight was called. Flying didn't bother me, I was so used to it by now. I mean flying out to Texas for holidays you learn the ropes pretty fast.
Dawson gave me the window seat, and it still amazed me to this day. I loved watching the plane take off, and then fly thru the clouds. They were so white that they just glistened, and I swear they sparkled. Dawson just said it was from lack of sleep, but I don't believe him.
"Hey, Danielle, wake up we just landed," Dawson said lovingly. He sure enough we had landed. "You ready to go get our little ones?"
"Yeah, let's go save your mother, she's probably tired of them by now," I giggled standing up.
As we reached David and Olivia's we couldn't wait to see our babies. I was literally shaking with excitement. We rang the doorbell, and I heard Hudson say he'd get it.
When he opened the door his eyes grew with excitement.
"Mommy, Daddy!" He shouted.
"Mommy?" Shane squeaked as he ran around the corner.
"Hey guys!" I stated hugging them. "Did y'all have a good time at Grandma's and Grandpa's?"
"Yes, Uncle Damien took us to the park," Hudson shouted.
"And the movies," Shane exclaimed.
"And we made welcome home cookies," Sadie stated walking from the kitchen.
"Child what do you have all over your face?" I asked confused. It looked like she had more frosting on than the cookies.
"Frosting, wait till you see Uncle Damien," she giggled.
We walked into the kitchen to see Damien covered in flour, sprinkles, frosting, butter, and wearing a 'kiss the cook' apron.
"Mom's going to kill you Damien," Dawson stated looking at the mess in the sink.
"Not when I tell her it was for Sadie," Damien stated sticking out his tongue at Dawson.
"Boys, behave now," I laughed at the to brothers.
"He started it," Damien griped.
"Well I'm finishing it," I laughed. "Where are Olivia and David?"
"Oh they went to go eat," Damien explained. "Yep, it's just been me and the kids."
"And you both survived?" I stated smirking.
"Yes, I can't believe it," Damien mocked my tone. He could be so sassy, but he was beginning to grow on me. Like a little brother I never asked for.
(Dawson's P.O.V.)
I saw the way Danielle and Damien were beginning to banter like sibling, and it brought joy to my heart. They were learning to love each other through sarcastic remarks, it was truly beautiful.
After all the kids came down from their sugar high, and had their baths we put them to bed.
As we were getting ready for bed the puppies jumped up on our bed.
"No, Dixie, Kent, off the bed," Danielle commanded, and both pups sadly got off the bed.
"Awe they look so heartbroken. They were just excited to see us," I stated pouting.
"Do you want to wake up sick again?" Danielle asked bluntly.
"No," I sighed.
"Then they have to stay in their bed in the floor," Danielle stated rolling the covers down. "No matter how cute their little puppy dog pouts are."
"Okay," I pouted. She just gave me that 'stop that' look, and I obeyed. "Do I at least get to cuddle with my gorgeous wife?"
"That you do," she giggled, and we spooned all night. It was good to be home. There was no place on earth like it.
