Chapter 2...Puppy Love
(Dawson's P.O.V.)
Did I mention I loved Super Saturdays? That's what Danielle and I named our family outings. Every Saturday we tired to do something that involved the whole family. Today we were going to the pet store. I had always wanted a dog as a child, but my mother didn't like animals that shed their fur. The store had so many puppies to chose from. I just knew Sadie was going to lose her mind.
"Daddy look at the puppies," Sadie squealed pulling me to the window. Danielle was pushing Ross in his stroller, and came up behind us.
"Sadie do you see a puppy that you want?" Danielle asked amused.
"I want all of them," Sadie squealed. Okay maybe we needed to cut down on the Disney movies. With her three year-old knowledge she'd think that we could go home with 101 puppies.
"Shane, Bud is there a puppy you like?" I asked him as he was hugging my leg. He was shy in public places. It was funny how the twins had such different personalities. Sometimes it scared me how fearless Sadie was.
"I like that one Daddy," Shane whispered pointing to the little black lab. There were about five of them, and I didn't know which one he wanted. Though I read somewhere that labs made good family pets.
Yes, I read an article.
When we walked inside we played with some of the puppies talking to the store owner about which one were the best for a family with small kids. He tried to help us as much as he could.
"Dawson can we take them all home?" Danielle begged pouting while she held a little English Setter. "I promise I'll take of all of them. I'll feed them, bathe them, and clean up after them"
"Alright Sadie!" I laughed, and Danielle just stuck her tongue out at me.
We ended up getting a black lab puppy and the English setter puppy that Danielle fell in love with. I'm just glad that we ended up with two puppies and not all of them like Sadie and Danielle wanted. Shane and Hudson named the little lab pup Kent, and Sadie and named the little setter pup Dixie.

After leaving the pet store with puppy supplies up to our eye balls we decided to take the puppies to the park. They ran and played with the kids for hours. I knew that this was one of the best decisions Dawson and I had ever made. Dawson had never had a dog before, but I grew up in the country and my grandmothers farm was full of all kinds of animals.
Dawson and I were watching the kids play while I rocked Ross in his stroller. Sadie ran past us as Dixie ran to Dawson's lap. The look on his face was priceless. He didn't know what to do.
"Dawson are you not going to pet her?" I asked giggling.
He looked as if someone had placed a snake in his lap. He petted the Dixie and she wiggled around in his lap and even licked his face. It was absolutely adorable.
"Ugh, she licked my face," Dawson shouted. "Her kisses are wet and sloppy just like yours." I couldn't believe that he just said that. I shoved him over and Dixie continued to lick him.
After that shower of puppy breath and slobber I bet he wouldn't complain about my kisses ever again.
"Help me!" Dawson cried, and I just continued to laugh.

Later that night we got home, and set up the puppies beds in our bedroom. I found out that puppies cry as much as babies. By the end of the night they ended up in the bed with us.
My mother was right. Puppies shed their fur really bad. I also suddenly found out the other reason we never had any animals in my house as a child. The reason was me. I woke up with puffy eyes, and I couldn't stop sneezing. That's right I'm allergic.
"Dawson sweetie, are you okay?" Danielle asked trying to doctor me. Ironic right?
"Well I can't really breathe but other than that I'm pretty good," I stated. I wasn't being a drama queen, I seriously felt like crap.
"I'll go to the story and buy some medicine. You stay here and watch the kids," she stated kissing my forehead and leaving the bedroom.
Later while Danielle was out Sadie crawled in the bed with me.
"Daddy are you going to die?" She whispered poking my cheek then cuddling my chest.
I just giggled. "No baby I'm not going to die, the puppies just make it hard for me to breathe," I sighed.
"Dixie and Kent make you sick?" She stated. "Bad puppies!" Sadie scolded Dixie and Kent. They just whimpered in response. Poor puppies.
"Honey I'm home!" Danielle sang as she walked back to the bedroom with the allergy medicine. "Sadie take Dixie and Kent into your room while Daddy tries to recover."
"Yes Mommy, come on bad puppies," Sadie sighed and they followed her out the door.
"What was that all about?" Danielle laughed opening and handing me the medicine. I took the suggested dose.
"Sadie thinks the puppies are bad because they made me sick," I stated sniffling. Danielle just laughed cuddling up beside me.
"I guess we'll just have move the puppies beds to the sun porch," Danielle remarked.
