As soon as Mr. United Nations closed the door at the top of the stairs everyone began to talk. I could feel their panic, hear their worry, sense their anxiety.
I looked at Destiny, she was the calmest on the outside trying to help the Micro Nations feel better, with the help of Finland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, and Sweden.
Soon they were joined by Slovakia and Croatia. I glanced around my eyes landing on Italy who was clinging to Germany and crying. Hungary was fretting next to Austria.
I weaved my way through all of the personifications to stand with Russia. I grabbed his arm and shifted it to where it was over my shoulders. I sighed, "So... how do you think we are going to deal with this?"
The tall male smiled down at me, "I'm going to go beat them with Magical Metal Pipe of Pain. You will help, da?"
I smiled weakly, nodded, and whispering, "Da..."
Mr. Damocles stood before the class. It's been a few days, everyone was going to school now. No big deal, thankfully all in different classes. Bad planning on the school's part they part America, Canada, France, and England. Ha. Idiots.
Anyway, Mr. Damocles was a stout man with amber eyes- not nearly as pretty as Feli's. Mr. Damocles was the school principal he had large, bushy black eyebrows (much like Iggy's squirrels- I mean eyebrows), gray sideburns and a beard. He also had a light gray mustache. The principle was bald on the top of his head, and he didn't seem to notice nor care.
Said man was talking to the class about some silly project that Felix and maybe Francis may do, "You only have one day to work on your fashion piece, and it must be your own design. In ten hours your fittest presentation will be judged by none other than the great fashion designer Gabriel Agreste, the father of our very own student Adrien Agreste. In fact, Adrien will model the winning design in his next photoshoot. And now, to announce this year's theme: derby hats."
From the corner of my (e/c) eyes I could see my recently made human friend, Marinette, perk up at the sound of her (obvious) crush's name, but she soon faltered, "Derby hats?"
Not too far away from me, I could see Chloé, looking at the hats with disgust, she made a thumbs-down gesture.
A little later, I sat with my human friends- much to my fellow Personifications worry. I watched with amusement as Marinette paced back and forth in the hall, looking at her sketchbook.
"Derby hat, derby hat, derby hat, derby hat...!" Marinette muttered flipping through her sketchbook, "I don't have any derby hat designs. I've got top hats, caps, even two-horned hats! Need a beret? I'm your girl. A sombrero? No problemo."
I snorted at her pose, "You have no idea how racist that pose is."
Marinette sent me a bashful look, "But a derby! You know what? It won't even matter, 'cause I'm probably going to make a total fool of myself at the event. Most likely trip over my stupid derby and collapse on Mr. Agreste; give him a full-blown concussion and Adrien will hate me! I'll never be a world-renowned fashion designer. MY LIFE IS OVER!"
"I haven't known you that long but, that is a very accurate prediction for you," I gave my input without a second thought. I flinched, "Wait! Not to be mean! I mean you clumsy, and it might happen! I wasn't saying it will happen!"
I wanted to shot myself in the arm, I haven't had anyone to talk to for over 100 years as a friend beside the countries, I mean sure I've made a friend or two but I would stay quiet, too afraid that I was going to mess it all up. This was too new for me.
Alya gave me a smile to tell me that it was okay, her face told me that Marinette was just overreacting, "All this over a derby hat? Let me see your sketchpad, girl. There must be something in here."
Humans were too new to me.
Marinette cried while Alya started to look through the book, "Forget it, I'm a disaster zone. I'll probably mess everything up in the end."
Humans have been around for thousands of centuries, but it's been hundreds since I last had a real conversation with one. I don't know... Would this even count as a real conversation?
I looked up as Adrien began to speak, "Wow, Alya," from the corner of my eye I could see Marinette panic and hide behind the bench, "those are some awesome designs. I didn't know you had such mad skills."
Alya blinked and turned the attention to the girl who really deserves it, "Uh, thanks Adrien, but I can't take the credit. These sick designs belong to Marinette. Off the chain, right?"
Said female gave a weak wave her face dusted with an embarrassed pink.
Adrien smiled at her, "You're super talented, Marinette. You seriously have a good chance of winning."
"Oh no," I whispered to myself, "She's gonna struggle."
"Well, um, yeah!" Just as I thought the blue-eyed female lost her train of thought as well as her coordination, "I... like-- um, designs that-- um, go upwards... while stopping... I mean, uh-- thanks?"
"Alya your hand motions are not helping her," I muttered, "She's too far gone."
"I know," she whispered back, stopping.
"Sure, and uh-- good luck. Maybe I'll be wearing your derby at father's next photoshoot," Adrien said before leaving.
Alya shook her head, "Girl, you gotta get a grip next time. But did you hear? Adrien thinks you're good enough to win!"
"Way to go Marinette," I gave her a grin. My grin faded slightly as I saw Chloé taking to her red-headed slave - I mean friend.
Alya pulled out her phone and checked something, "Only have nine hours until showtime."
Marinette flinched, "Yikes! I'm off to my secret garden of inspiration. I'll see you later!"
"B-"
Smack!
Thump!
I glanced over before I could even finish the word "bye" she ran into a wall.
"AH! I'm okay. I'm okay, I'm okay," She said before running off.
Alya giggled as I snickered shaking my head.
Humans have been around for a long time, and many centuries have passed since I held a real conversation and since I had a real human friend. I know I must be careful, but for once I'm wondering.
Should I really be so paranoid about humans?
GAH! I'm not sorry for not updating last month, I needed a break.
But I am sorry for updating late!
