Chapter 22

"Oh, hey (Y/n). There's a person in the meeting room for you," Drago greeted me with a calm express holding a water bottle that was probably full of grape Gatorade.

I nodded, "Thanks, Drago. Can you put my bag in my room...?"

Drago let out a playfully annoyed sigh, "Fine, but only because it's one the way to my room."

I smiled at her softly and made my way toward the meeting room. I stopped at the door to the meeting room and took in a deep breath. I slowly released the breath, pushed open the door, and walked into the room.

I shifted the hold my head high, "Uh... Hi, I'm (Y/n)."

The woman looked up to let her green eyes meet mine, she let out a small smile which was clearly hiding a bigger one, "Hello, (Y/n), my name is Amber. I'm the leader of (C/n). I hear you have something to tell me."

I blinked a few times, "Uh, right! I do..." I approached the table and sat down in front of Amber.

Her green eyes stared into my (e/c) orbs, her smile had faded and she watched me with a heavy serious expression.

This was more nerve-racking than the time I had to convince a human that I didn't break my arm even though it was clearly broken.

Though I was able to convince them that I was fine, I had to get them to look away so I could snap my arm back in place then had to act so though they were insane when they told me what they "swore" they saw. I still feel bad about that and it's been about 20-years.

Even after all this time I still haven't been able to figure out if I'm just that good at lying or they were just that stupid. If I'm speaking honestly I think it was the latter, almost everyone else is able to see through my lies.

But right now, that's not important and maybe one day I'll get to tell that story... and the story where I convinced that same human that a hamburger was a hot dog. Which I guess is another tally in the human stupid column leaving humans 2 and me being good at lying still at a solid zero... damn.

My mind has diverted from the situation at hand... once again.

Right now the mortal before is more important, and I've been nervously fidgeting for the past minute and haven't said a word.

Her serious face shows me just how annoyed she is.

I gulped, "Sorry... I'm just trying to figure out how to say this..."

She raised an eyebrow, "Say what?"

I mentally sighed and closed my eyes, "When I came in here I introduced myself to you and in turn, you addressed me as (Y/n) (L/-"

She nodded, "That is your name, Miss (L/n)."

I opened my eyes and stared at her, forcing myself to look more professional, "Quiet," Her face morphed into one of anger but before she could speak I went on, "You're right, (Y/n) (L/n) is my name. But one of two."

"Two?" She repeated.

I nodded, "Yes. Two. (Y/n) (L/n) is my common name, my... human name if you will. The name I was born with... the first time. My second "birth" I was born with the name of (C/n) only a year before the country (C/n) announced independence."

She frowned, "I'm sorry. I don't think I follow."

I took a deep breath, "You see, Amber, I am immortal. I live as long as (C/n) lives. If my country falls and disappears forever I'm immortal but at the same time, I will not be. If (C/n) falls I live my life from the day it falls on until I die like a normal person. My aging has paused and it's been paused for a long time but if (C/n) my aging starts again."

"Why?" She asked her green eyes narrow, "Why do you think you're so important to the world?

"I am (C/n)," I went on purposely ignoring her comment, "I've been on this earth longer than the mere thought of you."

She stood up quickly making the chair behind her fall to the floor with a loud clatter.

"This is definitely not ideal,I thought to myself out loud.

"This is not a funny joke and I am telling you now that (C/n) will never let you step foot on our land."

I listened for her to walk past me before I spoke, "Have you seen the French news recently. Weird that I am wearing the same jacket as the person who broke a large chunk of ice with her bare fists, isn't it?"

"So?"

"That jacket is only made and sold in (C/n). And it was sold a good... thirty years ago. That company is no longer in business went out of said business merely a year after it opened up. Not long for a business, not well known in other places in the world."

I could hear her stop by the door but she didn't say a word.

"Amber Scalzo, am I correct?"

"Y-Yea- uh, yes, She stuttered.

I glanced over my shoulder, "Why is it that you didn't recognize this jacket or the logo on it. After all... your Grandparents owned the company. Scalzo Company. Not every day you see someone wearing one of their products but I know you've seen them before."

"How do you know of that company?" She asked.

"It was a small business, only having one store, and as stated before only was open for a year. You're right most the time those companies are forgotten in time, never to spoken of or seen of ever again," I stood up and turned to her, "I've only been there a few times. I don't remember it very well. Doesn't help that the town I was in was only on the outskirts of my borders." I jumped up to sit on the table, "Tell me, Scalzo, is my country beautiful? Do people get together to have parties? Do my people live happy full lives or do they feel threatened?"

Amber frowned and shook her head, "You did your research..."

"I haven't picked up a history book... ever, I have no need for one, if I want to know something I can ask anyone in this building," I looked her in the eye, "I may have not been in my nation for years but I can tell you the start and end dates of all the wars, I can tell you everyone who has died in war. I can tell you every time my country has been bombed, where the bomb was and how died. I can tell you what my scientist are focusing on." I pushed myself off the table and stood in front of her, "It's the strangest thought, isn't it?  Thinking that out there in the world is someone how has seen and heard it all."

"Y-You've cheated death itself!" She gasped.

I smiled, "Now that is a positively silly thought. I haven't cheated anything. I was born human and died as a child- actually as a toddler, and when I opened my eyes once more I was no longer mortal. I didn't cheat Death, Amber Scalzo, I was chosen by Earth and her choice was agreed with by Death himself." I soon frowned, "But that doesn't make me better than you or anyone else. It merely means that I have to suffer with my people."

This is late, but that's normal.

I made a Bendy and the Ink Machine reference... erm well kinda, but either way, I am proud of myself.

Anyway,
