THAT ONE DAY

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

"i can't"

 om was shocked would be an understatement.Those words were echoing in his ears .

"But why ?" om asked her.

"om everything has changed .I am not the one you actually liked."said gauri

"Then why did you call me here?"

"to say sorry"

"for what"

"That day for leaving you for hurting you."

Both were taken back to the day they last saw each other years ago

FLASHBACK

"Om  meet me in the ground" said gauri while passing om and rudra in cycle along with anika .Her voice was different .may be she is sad  since it's last day of school.I will assure her we can meet regularly thought om.

"oye "om called gauri.

"om i want to tell you something"said gauri

"I know you are sad since it's last day of school.But we are in the same city and we can get admission in same college."

"did you forgot what i told you earlier"

"what"

"I am going to chennai.We are shifting in two days"

om's world came crashing down.He had thought it to be a bad joke and had forgotten about it.

"gauri are you serious?you are leaving mumbai?leaving anika ,me and especially om?"asked rudra.om waited for gauri to refuse.

"yes"said anika.

gauri couldn't tell anything. Anika and rudra waited for either om or gauri to speak.But both were silent.om was trying to catch gauri's eyes and gauri was trying to avoid om's eyes.

"aren't you sad anika"rudra asked.

"why wouldn't i be ?we have been friends for years and without gauri i can't imagine.i will never have another bestie."anika said and she was starting to cry.

gauri kept her hands on her shoulders.The whole school knew about gauri and anika's friendship.om now understood what gauri must be going through .gauri might have been born in chennai but she had come to  mumbai when she was seven.she had grown up in this city in the very same school along with him ,rudra and anika.Though he had not been her best friend he was a good friend to anika and he know what place they both shared in each other's life.Rudra was also friends with gauri.It was going to be hard for everyone.thought om

"om say something"said gauri

"Will you give me your number"asked om hopefully

"you know about my parents i can't i am"

"don't say sorry just answer me.Is it over everything?"om cut her

gauri knew he was hurt.

"om i don't know.I just"

"i am going to close the ground "the security said.

They all went out gauri could feel tears ready to come out of her eyes.But what shocked her was Om's eyes red and small amount of tears coming out.gauri had never seen om like this unless you count the time when he mentioned his father's death when they were in eighth  grade.She never thought om liked her that much to spill tears for her.she knew he liked her but tears.That moment gauri cried.

"go home "those were the last words she told om when car came to pick up om and rudra.

That was the last day gauri had seen the three of them.she had left two days after.One day she came to collect her tc to mumbai but she met none of them.

Om left for london for his art studies which he refused earlier but now accepted.
