Ja is Afrikaans for yes. This story is based in George, South Africa which has a great population of Afrikaans speaking people. Generally people who are English but have Afrikaans as a second language tend to use some of common Afrikaans words.

Amica's P.O.V

I have started at my new job and it has been okay for the first day. The bell rings signaling the arrival of a new customer. I look up to see a very good looking dude who's about my age and by the looks of it he was from a well off family.

" Hi. I'm Amica how can I help you?"

"Hi  I'm Giovanni,could I get a coffee,no milk and two sugars please."

"Sure coming right up."

Giovanni's P.O.V

Fancy meeting her at my restaurant of all places. I gotta admit she is a true beauty what with her brown hair and gorgeous green eyes. I wonder where she has been all along.

"Here you go," she said softly.

"Thanks. So how long have you been working here? Coz I'm sure I'd remember that pretty face anywhere."

" Actually I only started today. That's why you've never seen me."

" Oh that would explain it."

"Which High School do you attend?"

"Glenwood House College and you?"

"I too am enrolled there. You must be new because I've never seen you until yesterday I caught a glimpse of you."

She laughs softly before replying,"No. Actually I've been attending Glenwood House since triple nought really. It's just that I'm not a very social person so I tend to hide away from people."

"Oh that would explain it. So how about I keep you company while you finish wiping the tables."

"No I have to attend to the customers."

"No you don't. The restaurant closes in exactly......10 minutes. Come on I'll drop you off afterwards."

"Kay so I'm an only child. I live with my dad. Hum my mom died when I was a child. I LOVE food. I love to read, listen to music and paint. Uhm... Ja that's about all."

"Well like you I'm an only child. I live with my mom. My dad .... Uh anyways I love sport, music, art  ja that's me."

"That's interesting... But I've gotta go."

"Sure come on I'll drop you off."

"Thanks."

Amica's P.O.V:

I couldn't believe I was talking to this super hot dude!! He seemed nice for a very rich person. I can't believe we attend the same school. But then again I don't mush attention to anything other than my studies and Bev. I guess I should be more attentive. I'm sure that it doesn't take a genius to figure out that I have no interaction with the opposite gender whatsoever. So this is a first for me. But like my dear mama used to say ' Fate has a way of bring about unexpected things in life' and I couldn't agree more. Right now we were driving towards my house and I was giving him directions. I can't wait to tell Bev of this tomorrow.

"Is this your house?" He asked as he came to a stop.

"Yes it is."

"It's simple but beautiful at the same time."

"Ja it is."

"Oh we'll have a goodnight I look forward to seeing you tomorrow."

"You too."

Just as I was about to climb out of the car he stopped me," Would you consider me a friend?"

"Uh...", I was stunned to say the least."Uhm well I only just met you...."

"No it's fine I get it."

"But I think we could be good friends in the future. I just need to get used to this."

His features brightened up considerably after my last statement. This made me smile.

"I think so too. Well see you tomorrow Amica."

"You too Giovanni."

He waited until I was safely inside before driving off.

"Dad I'm home!!"

"Hi honey the food is in the microwave it should be warm enough. I already ate so don't worry about me. If you need anything I'm in my study."

This is the relationship I now share with my dad. Ever since my mom passed away he has been distant. Sometimes I feel as if Beverly is the only person who cares for me. But life has got to move on.

Giovanni's P.O.V:

I can't believe I almost told her about dad. Vincenzo Accardo is someone I don't ever want to see in my life again. He ruined my mother and has been the mastermind of many assassins though I feel as though my mother is hiding more information from me and I intend to find out just exactly what. Apparently he disappeared off the face of the earth just 5 years ago. No one knows of his current location but knowing my father he will not be found until he wants to be found. When that is I don't know. But my priority now is protecting mom. My phone rings and I check the caller ID it's none other than Jackson my bestfriend.

"Hi."

"Sup dude where are you? I thought you were coming to Stella's party after getting your coffee. What happened man?"

"Oh uh I got held up uhm with something important? Why?"

"No it's just that Stella has been asking me every two minutes where you are."

I run a hand over my face." When will she ever leave me alone and understand that when we are over we are over?"

" I don't know man. But if I were you I'd call her or else be ready for all hell to break forth tomorrow."

" I don't have time for that."

"Look we'll talk later tomorrow."

"Ja sure whatever you say man."

" Cheers." Before I could even creep up the stairs my mothers voice makes me freeze mid stride. Oops busted!

"Hello my big boy. Come give your mamma a hug you naughty boy."

I reluctantly walk down the stairs to hug her.

"Caio mamma. How was your day?"

"It was good and yours? "

"Same as always."

"Will you not have supper tonight?"

"No. I don't have much of an appetite. But pack it in for lunch tomorrow", I quickly suggest knowing how much she hates wasting food.

"Alright my darling. Have a goodnight my boy."

"You too mamma."

I am so proud of her. She has made it through tough times. And even after these trials she is still kind. I fell asleep that night with a sigh.

K so I should've established this in the beginning.

I have decided to make George the setting of this story seeing as I live in George. Mainly because I'm not familiar with America or Italy it's self. George is a very small and quiet town in the middle of the Garden Route. Cafe Serefe is a real restaurant in George and Glewnwood House and Glewood House College (same school) are real and I actually study there. So it was really for convenience.

Tell me what you think.
