J A E R I N

We were patiently waiting for Jinyoung to wake up. Kasama ko sina Jihoon oppa and Woojin oppa. Ang sabi nila ay on the way na raw yung iba from the school.

"Baby Jinyoung? Ano nangyari sayo, anak ko?" a woman in her late thirties went inside the room rushing over Jinyoung.

She looked familiar. Even with the slightly wrinkled face she still looked beautiful. The formal dress she's wearing looked amazing to her.

"Tita?" I managed to say. She's Jinyoung's Mom.

She creased her eyebrows trying to remember me. Afterwards her eyes slightly grew a little.

"Erin?" her voice was still as soft as I can remember.

I smiled then bowed at her, "Annyeonghaseyo." then I smiled at her once again.

Her hand is now at her hanged open lips.

"Y-You look a lot m-more like your Mom, Erin. Long time no see, sweetie." at lumapit pa siya sa akin.

She pulled me into a hug that I gladly returned.

Tita and I used to be close back then. Sobrang bait niya sa akin and she treats me like her own daughter.

Napalingon si Tita sa kanila at tumango, "Thank you for bringing Jinyoung here, Jihoon and Woojin." she said.

Tumango naman sina oppa, "Wala yon, tita." at nag-bow pa sila bago tuluyang lumabas.

We sat silently beside Jinyoung's bed.

"Alam mo ba, I never saw my son cried for something. Usually, when something upsets him or whatever he'll just ignore it and won't say a word." she suddenly blurted out.

"But I once saw him cried." and then she faced me.

"He cried the moment he knew we will move to New York." sabi niya sa akin.

I remembered him smiling at me before they go. I remembered him promising me that he'll come back. I remembered him handing me a handkerchief because I was crying hard. I remembered him comforting me.

"Sabi niya, ang unfair namin ng Daddy niya. Ang unfair namin dahil kung kelan komportable na siya sa lugar na yon tsaka namin siya dadalhin paalis." she even let out a chuckle before smiling a little while looking at his son.

"He was so mad and upset but he didn't want to show it to you dahil baka mas lalo ka daw mag-iyak." napalingon na din ako kay Jinyoung.

Until now I'm still wondering why he moved to New York.

"Are you curious why we moved?" tila nabasa ni Tita ang nasa utak ko.

She sighed heavily while I stayed silent.

"Jinyoung have a severe coronary heart disease." napalingon ako sa kanya dahil sa sinabi niya.

'No way.'

"Bata pa lang siya ng malaman namin. We took him to New York and tried to find the best medication for him." pagtutuloy niya ng kwento.

"Is he already treated? Does he need to undergo surgery?" tanong ko agad.

"Uhuh. But he insisted to go home because he said he wants to see you before the surgery." anunsyo niya sa akin.

"Maliit lang ang percentage na makakaya niya." and there I cried.

"That's why I have a favor to ask, Erin." nilingon ko siya at tiningnan ng diretso sa mata.
