My best friend Clary Fairchild and I were walking down the corridors of our school. The clock was around 8
in the morning and both of us were waiting for our first class of the day
to finally begin. Clary is an amazing girl and the two of us has been best friends since we started high school about a year ago. Clary isn't only my best friend, but she's also dating my adoptive brother Jace Herondale. I don't know why she decided that he would be a good first boyfriend, but she's happy with him and that is all that matters to me. Jace is one year older than us and while Clary and I both are on our second year, Jace is on his third and last year here in this school which means that he actually will graduate next summer together with my brother Alec. No one in our family really believed that the two of them ever would graduate from high school, but I realise we were wrong. Alec is actually very smart but as he got together with his first boyfriend, things like studying didn't matter to him anymore. I won't lie, Magnus is an amazing person and I'm so happy that they found each other. Alec has been alone for a long time and sadly, he has also been struggling with his own sexuality. When Alec came out
a few months ago, he was so scared that people would judge him, mostly his own family, but all of us accepted him and he could finally be himself. Other than Jace and Alec, we have a little brother named Max. He is ten years old and he's pretty much stuck in a fantasy world where things like dragons and mermaids exists. A few people in our neighbourhood thinks that Max is a bit weird, but everyone in our big family love and adore him.
Me and my three brothers are living with our parents, Maryse and Robert Lightwood. Both of them are rather famous when it comes to business so people usually recognises things like our last name. I can't really say that our parents relationship is stable or anything like that, but both of them always seems to find their way back to the other one, which is more than us children can ask for. That's pretty much our family in a nutshell. Wait,
I forgot to mention myself, didn't I? My name is Isabelle Lightwood and I'm seventeen years old. I have black hair like the rest of my family, with a little exception of Jace who is blond
and Robert who is pretty much bald.
I have never in my life been together with a guy, but I honestly don't care. I'm a independent woman who does not need anyone to tell me I'm great. Besides, every damn guy at school is
a complete moron and if I am going to lose my virginity, it is going to be with a guy who does not believe that our world is flat. Idiots, am I right? The only boys I need is my brothers, my father and Magnus. I know he is together with Alec, but just as I said before, Mags is amazing and he has always been there for me when it felt like no one gave a damn about me. I haven't been the self conscious type, but there is a few days where I just feel like the world is against me and when those days comes, I know that
I can count on my wonderful family.
Oh well, let us all return to my day at the prison, other words school. The bell finally rang, signalling that our first class was beginning. Clary and I walked to our classroom and like we always do, we sat down beside each other. We have a few other friends in our class like Maia and Jordan. They have been a couple for three years so they know the other one better than anyone else. Clary and I usually sits in the back of the classroom since no one of us cares enough about what is going on in the front. Surprisingly, I am still one of the smartest students in my class even though I do not pay attention at all. I guess that having a smart brother has been good for me. For your information, I'm talking of Alec and not the blond one because I do recall remembering that Jace was the one who failed his math test and not me. After all, he's blond and for some reason that must make him so much more stupid than Alec and I. Before you ask me, I do not have any kind of hate against Jace. No matter what happens he'll always be family.
Siblings fights but at the end of the day, they'll always be siblings and I could not have any better brothers. Jace, Alec and Max means so much
to me and I wouldn't be able to live without the three of them in my life. Dammit, I lost focus again. Our first class had begun and our teacher ran back and forth, answering questions about the upcoming history test that we're supposed to have in one week.
- Do you know this? Clary asked and looked at me with two confused eyes
- Yes and you would too if you didn't spend all of your free time with Jace, I said and could not help but chuckle
- Touché, Clary said smiled brightly
