44. She comes

And if you thought he was going to sit there silently watching us come for him, you are so wrong. He charged at us too. It felt more like a marvel avengers' scenario. But our enemy here is more evil and powerful than Thanos himself. Even if I am over exaggerating, that is what I felt.

Nothing seemed to be working on him. Lucifer's fire managed to burn his overall coat but he shrugged out of it and threw it away. Strangely, the wounds on his skin began to heal, the burns were fading away. My shadows and Dylan's shadows tried to harm him. In fact, they even send some dangerously good blows. He staggered and lost his cool, got hurt but his wounds were fucking healing!

It felt like we were fighting a 6 feet stone which wouldn't budge and nothing could possibly change its composure. But why? Why can't we harm him?

"I think his power is to heal fast" The young royal beside me said. He was in his teens and clearly a charmer. I didn't notice such a young mind to last so long.

"No. Ari stripped him off of his powers. He doesn't have anything."

The young one looked really confused, "I cant probe into his head. He is not thinking about it"

While I controlled the shadows standing off from the battlefield with Dylan a few feet away from me, this boy was there all along and I didn't notice.

"Probe into his head?" I asked.

"While we charged at him and you unleashed the shadows and stepped out the battle arena, I knew you were thinking about Avengers. Just like I know that the big guy is trying to send a punch at Lord Williams"

I turned around to see that Josh did exactly what the boy said he would. But Julian dodged the hit and sent a splash of water right at Josh's face. Since he started coughing, I knew the water must have managed to get inside his nose and ears.

"You can read minds?"

And also speak into your head if I want to.

I gasped. That is how Julian knew that Josh was coming for him. The boy put it into his head.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Carter...Carter Bells"

I hugged him hard and that took him by surprise.

"Missy...umm...you are distracting me and...ouch!"

Josh sent a hard punch right at one of the royal's and he fell to the ground unconscious.

"I'm sorry" I apologized immediately.

I turned around to see how Dylan was doing. She was concentrating so hard on the war scene that I could notice the blue veins on her temples. They were on the verge of bursting out. She was channeling so much energy into the shadows, it is a wonder she didn't collapse yet.

"She lost her husband and a child. She feels lonely and the only thing on her mind right now is that bull's death" Carter said from beside me.

I nodded. Of course. I understood how she felt. Dylan is a strong woman and that is the reason she is managing to still have revenge on her mind. If it was me, I would have killed myself by now if Luc...

"He is changing his trail..." Carter said from beside me.

"That bull! He knows there is a mind reader so he is thinking something else and doing a totally different thing. I just have a fraction of seconds to register his real thoughts. That's not enough to alert whoever he is going at."

I sighed, "Then I guess I need to join the war. Stay where you are at"

"With pleasure" he gulped.
